Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

How do you actually go about updating the firmware? I think that would be useful information this thread.

    Bavarian Demon Cortex

All my 48-60 size planes are in the 18-22 range for normal mode gains, I do not use hold mode, it just disabled it. My 71 inch uses a significantly higher gain setting.

Electric setup receiver battery pack necessary?

As you said, big motors drain power, the amount of power to run the electronics would be miniscule in comparison. Here's a real world for you. I have a separate RX battery in my 71 Extra, I'm using a 6S 6000 for the main pack. The RX pack is 1300 2S, after 4 flights the RX battery shows...

Electric setup receiver battery pack necessary?

With a top notch ESC it's not really necessary anymore.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

I have the Gecko 85A/MF 4315 combo in my 57 Extra and it works great, but the 150HV/MF4330 does not work correcty, such a mystery and want a nightmare for Altitude Hobbies and ZTW. I feel bad for Altitude.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

A club member has the exact same issue but with the Hacker Q80/Castle ESC combination. Screeches on takeoff and looses power, he needs to quickly zero the throttle and then power up again. He's says the same, losing the timing.

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

The can is about 4 foot high and it takes off and lands vertically, it will transition to horizontal flight once airborne, I have no idea how it does that, or how a cylinder can fly.

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

That's my club, Otto's amazing, he designs all king of kinds crazy stuff that seems like it shouldn't fly. Mostly he builds flying superheros, my favorite is a 3-dimensionally sculpted flying Dumbo. He's got a giant flying Red Bull can that is really cool as well.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

I see... Well I have a brand new Gecko 85A and MF 4315-500, planes almost done hopefully things will work. I already had to remove the 150HV from my 71 and replace with a Jeti. Would be ridiculous to have TWO Geckos acting as paperweights.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Okay, I was wondering what was the problem with that combo, now I remember mine does that too, often when I hit throttle hold it will knock once or twice, power wise I have no issues.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

I have the 4315 motor with 85A Gecko on 6S on my 57 Extra, it has great response. I am building my EF 60 Yak right now with the same combo, I sure hope nothing has changed... On another note I decided to spend the money and replace my 150A HV Gecko with a Jeti Mezon 160, had to spend another...

    65" Vyper Discussion Thread

No Y-harness unless for some reason you have no choice. Having separate ailerons allows you to fine tune each control separately, with a Y-harness it normally ends up being a bit of a compromise.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

I had my 71 Extra out today with the 4330/150HV Gecko combination. Yes I can definitely say it has a very lagy throttle response. From half to full is pretty good but from 25% and below to full there is a delay. I fly mostly IMAC stuff and don't hammer the throttle much so it doesn't bother me...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

I don't think my experience was anything like what I saw in your video, and it doesn't hesitate at all on startup. It certainly doesn't have the stupid power of the 60" planes, which are basically rocket ships on 6S. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

After actually reading this entire thread and watching the videos tomorrow I'll test my MF 4330 400 with the 150A OPTO on 6S. Always seemed a little sluggish to me but I just always blamed it on the larger prop and 6S power. Its my first over 60 inch plan. I'll do the run up on the ground to...

    65" Vyper Discussion Thread

Rates is a measure of how far the control travels, either in inches or degree of deflection. I like to start with out with low rates of about 15 degrees in the ailerons 13 degrees for the elevator and 30 degrees of rudder. I have the small Vyper and it requires VERY little surface movement to...

59" Aero Plus Corvus Racer Build Thread `From Limitless Aero`

I built a the 60 Yak-55, it had a small piece of wood in the kit that was the joiner bar. Both elevators needed to be routed out in order to fit the joiner in, major PITA. Dual elevator servos is the simpler solution, however there is no way the 60 Yak would have balanced with a second standard...

That is insane. They shipped me a 60 Yak-54 (to California) for $65 just last month.

59" Aero Plus Corvus Racer Build Thread `From Limitless Aero`

When I built my 3DHS 57 Extra I fouled up gluing the joiner half, I let the epoxy cure while forgetting to tape the counter balance. I ended up with a situation almost identical to what you have there. The elevator halves are 3/8" off. I decided to order another horizontal stab and start over...
