Extreme Flight 88" Edge -- now with EXP sized horizontal stabs

Thank you sir! I thought that I would probably be the guinea pig with this airframe/engine combo but it appears that you beat me to it. Following closely! Thanks again!

Extreme Flight 88" Edge -- now with EXP sized horizontal stabs

Awesome Bigroger! I am starting on the same combo. The plane is on the build table and my engine arrived today. I was surprised to see that it did not come with any standoffs but that is completely understandable. I was wondering if you would mind telling me what length your standoffs are? Thank...

I was going to rotate mine but there is a key/slot in the arm. It's a one way deal on these. Perhaps you could go into the carb and rotate it but I just worked around it.

Here is mine and it works fine so far after 8 flights. The angle is not great but on the throttle I am not too concerned about the geometry. I have a Savox SC-1268SG servo on it with tons of torque and it is not binding in any way. I used a Dubro 4-40 rod and ball links. The Dubro links came...

    Extreme Flight Extra 300 91"

I saw Chris Hinson and Chris Jewlett flying their DA-70 powered 91" Extras at the Bowling Green 3D fly-in and they ran flawlessly and were stout with a Mejzlik 24 x 10TH prop.

Those are nice and I considered getting them but the shortest length offered was 1/2". On my plane that will still leave a little over a quarter inch spinner gap. I was trying to get it to around an eighth inch or so. Of course your results may vary!

For anyone running the Valley View RC 40cc twin on this airframe and wondering about how to close the large spinner gap with the stock engine standoffs, I received some custom standoffs today from www.customstandoffs.com. They are 3/8" long. I will report the results when I get them installed...

Ok my pull pull cables aren't crossed. I've looked at about every image on the internet of the inside of these airframes and what I'm seeing is about 50/50 crossed and not. Please elaborate. Is this a personal preference or is it a setup issue. I'm just trying to get mine right! Thank you! I...

I had the cowl off today to tighten things after the first few flights and did some measuring. 3/8" standoffs should give you about an 1/8" spinner to cowl gap. 5/16" stand offs if you are really OCD about it. I may just leave mine alone as my planes are flyin planes not showin planes.

Just a side note. I did get it running hand flipping it in the back yard prior to taking it to the field. The 21" prop was the deal. It only took about 45 minutes with that prop, It was getting dark and a thunderstorm was rolling in. I told myself "One more try and that's it." It was trying to...

Maidened mine today! Couldn't have gone better. I borrowed a mega starter to fire it for the first time because my shoulder is still sore! LOL It ran flawlessly and I haven't touched the needles. Subsequent starts were 2-3 flips. I'm very impressed with both the engine and the airframe. Great...

She's done and I can't wait to fly her. Just one small problem. I can't get it to start. Same as Hone1er. Will try again this evening with a 21" prop.

You'll want to open it up just enough so that the wheel pant slides down and the slot bottoms out on the axle. The formed on "nut" shaped portion of the axle goes on the inside of the wheel pant. I had to gently pull apart the wheel well on the pant to make it slide in. Hope this make sense...

Maybe 1/4" on each side. I doubt it would fit without cutting the cowl.

Thanks Joe for all your help. I was wondering why they were offset... I will work that out. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've had those mufflers on and off during the build!

This thread's been dead for a few days. Thought I would wake it up. Nothing left now but a few details. All I lack is mounting the cowl and putting in a fuel dot. I bought a really nice Secraft but it is BIG. Looks like it's meant for 100cc planes and up. No good place to mount it. I have a...

Thanks Joe. I was leaning towards the through bolts but if it's holding up for you I will go forward. I know you fly the piss out of it! I am a liberal user of Loctite and I plan on getting some custom standoffs. I just wanna get her in the air this weekend. Let the spinner gap be what it may...

Quick question for anyone running the VVRC 40cc twin. I'm just about ready to mount my engine and was wondering if you guys used the supplied blind nuts or through bolted it with some fender washers on the back of the firewall? I'm just a little leery of the blind nuts. Thanks!
