    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

This could be as big as I'll need to go from now on. Had some bigger project and ended up not flying them as much because of convenience. I get out more, and have more fun, when I can throw a plane in the SUV late in the afternoon, and drive to the field for two hours. The 78 Extra fits as...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

Also, the Pitts muffler sold by Revolution for the R-50 is very quiet and no can is needed. There was one on the 50cc airframe I converted to a Q80 two years ago. It actually swung a 23x8 Lam Xoar to 6800 RPM hot, so it's one of the engines on my very short list. About the same price as a DA...

    Extreme Flight 76/83" MXS

Started thinking about this plane a while ago and stumbled across this thread. My guess is that the MXS can handle a 23x9 Falcon CF since the 78 Extra can. Going with a DA50 or 60 on a stock muff is going to be fun on this plane, and my bet would be the DA50 will be a recommended engine for...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Falcon sells the spacer tree for $3 and if you did not order them with the prop, you may end up paying $7 for shipping. I called them and they were nice enough to throw them in an envelop and send then first class mail. I now order them together and keep a few extra on hand. They probably do...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Another thing to remember is that flying the plane will change things too. A bigger prop in a static test has a LOT of resistance. When I'm flying at 60% throttle, and goose it, the motor literally howls. Pretty much the same thing on pull-outs, where the prop is already spinning at about 35%...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

The 20x8 on 12S with a 215-216 Kv is still the optimal power for this size plane at 285 to 290 Watts per pound. If you are unhappy with the throttle response, then you will need to reduce the diameter of the prop. To make sure this is not an ESC issue, try a 19x8 and see what happens versus...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

The 60/64 MXS with a 16x8 on a DM4315-480 is silly power and throttle response is instant. But as you move to bigger props with more moment and mass, the angular velocity, rotational kinetic energy, and moment of inertia changes a lot. Getting the same type of instant acceleration on a 20 inch...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

I just saw an Aeroplayin email so I thought I'd drop by and add my 2 cents. I'm sorry I'm not caught up but I watched the video and also read a reference to a Xoar wide blade. If so, which Xoar wide blade is it? Right now, I have two 12S setups in this size. With the A60-7S 215Kv and a...

12S power systems ideas and options

Okay, thanks... and he probably has all the TP batts and Hacker motors he would ever need. Anyway, the 73 Laser would be fun on the A60-7S with 10S 4000's and the 21x10 Falcon electric beech for low and slow 3D and then switch over to a 20x8 on 12S 3300's for pattern where the throttle settings...

12S power systems ideas and options

I think you mentioned somewhere that AJ had an A60-7S in the 73 with a 22x10 on 10S. Is that correct, and if so,how did that work out? I moved off the 22x10 when I sold both A60-16M's and bought two A60-7S motors to replace them. Needed 5000mAh to get 6.5 minutes at 82A.

12S power systems ideas and options

21x8 is the limit with the 206 on 12S IMO. If you ask Ken, he will say that 155 degrees F, 72 Amps, and therefore 3200W, is the edge of the envelop for the motor. If the motor can hold efficiency and actually do 7090 RPMs, it will be right there with the 195Kv. That's also 24 pounds with the...

12S power systems ideas and options

Good question, and this is all I have to offer at this point. I'm on the 215Kv A60-7S with 12S right now and there is no way I'd use a 20x8 prop on anything bigger than the 74 at under 11 pounds only because all the power is at the top end. When I ran the 10S setup on the same motor and plane...

12S power systems ideas and options

To clarify a few things, my guess is that the AUW of this plane is going to be 14 pounds with 2x 4400 6S batts, plus whatever the wing extensions are. Let’s say 14.25 lbs, 14.32 with a CF 23x9 Falcon prop option, and let’s estimate that the 85 inch wingspan comes out to a 1290 sq-in wing area...

12S power systems ideas and options

We're seeing 28 pounds on the 22x10E Mejzlik on the DM5335-189Kv. Two tests.... Settled in at 4407 Watts and 98.3A on the first test to 7186 RPMs and 4578W and 100.79A on the second to 7244 RPMs. This is really nice, but I'd consider a 23x9 Falcon on it just to slow things up a bit, or go to...

Update on the MXS by Daniel is that the wings were slightly reduced after testing and ended up at 85 inches with the tips.

12S power systems ideas and options

The great thing about electrics is that needed weight in the nose can always translates to more flight time. With most batteries, each 250mAh will add about 2.6 to 2.8 ounces. So each 750mAh added means about 8 ounces added, and in this size plane, that can mean another full minute of flight...

    Extreme Flight Owners Thread

It was confirmed by the EF team that the Laser and Edge are both designated 74 inches. The MXS is 78 without the tips and 87 inches with them. So it actually becomes a standard 50cc airframe from a few years ago before they lengthened the fuse to be closer to the wingspan. I have a six year...

Even with the 1004g all-up motor, if the MXS is like the 78 Extra, but add the weight of the wing tips, it could still come in under 14 pounds. And with the 9 extra inches to the wingspan, I can only imagine how much fun this is going to be.... of course, after I put this DM4330 in that 74 Edge...

You're first going to put that DM5335-195Kv in that 78/87 MXS, and you will love it. 22x10E Mejzlik will do 4400W on the 189Kv and pull 28 pounds. The 195Kv with either a 22x10 or a 23x9 Falcon CF is going to be something special on that baby.

Back right. Like the 70 Extra scheme but it's and Edge and I think the Edge and Laser are 74's.
