3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

Sweet Video - my buddy has the s-800 - flies so smoothly - how do you like the gimbal? I'm building my first serious camera rig now so I'm just seeing how people like their stuff - what they would change, etc.

Yeah I like the looks of the EF Laser...pretty sweet looking bird. Hopefully the polar vortex observes the 3 strikes law and stays away for a bit. I ended up with the 7245s as there was a presidents sale and I was able to get them 10% off - not a huge amount but better than nothing - plus the...

Sorry to hear that - I totally wasn't complaining just excited to get a new bird. It's been a while since my last one and I'm looking forward to the larger airframe - especially in the wind. I hope it thaws for all you guys stuck in the snow. Looks like a bad one. Funny in California we're in...

Lol. Yeah just out of curiosity I balanced the plane at the extremes and found that I could put the batteries just about anywhere from the wing tube to a few inches in front. Pretty amazing really. Can't wait for this stupid rain to go away so I can maiden her.

Yup, I installed them right before I did my initial balancing for the maiden.

Well I finally finished her - this pic was before I added the SFG, spinner, and properly balanced and added the stickers but she's ready to maiden.

Eugene Oregon 3D Bash & Monster Fest

I'll put it on my calendar - looks promising right now - my wife's uncle lives in grants pass so that may be great leverage on the family side. Thanks for the info.

    Another day at the park

Awesome! This hobby is great and seeing positive interaction with those that may be getting exposed to flying for the first time is such a cool feeling. Sometimes frustrating as you know, because It takes a lot of work to just keep a bird in the air at first - and conveying that to an onlooker...

Classic response! I always bring my fpv glider for the times when they ask to fly the plane - then I just stick the goggles on then and let them tell me where they want to fly works every time :)

Yeah my wife wouldn't let me get any lower while my daughter was playing under it, but she had fun chasing the plane around while I flew.

Which electrical connector do you prefer, and why?

Yowzilla - thanks for that technique. I've been using a metal jig with a fairly hot iron and was still getting cold joints - can't believe I didn't think if that earlier but such a simple elegant solution to a fairly common problem.

    2014 3DRCForums Freestyle Competition

Tx may be just out of reach for me but if anything materializes in the Oregon/Washington region that's a 10+ hr jaunt that I might be able to sell to the wife as a mini vacation :)

    Twisted Hobbys Owner's Thread!!

Have joined the TH band wagon recently with my crack laser lite - now with 100+ flights it one of my favorite planes. My next TH plane will be the beaver and probably a replacement airframe for the laser as I've pretty much learned (and am still learning) with it so needless to say it's well loved.

I might as well just get the bigger servos - seems like a decent idea and since it's not all that much more if the durability and longevity pay off then it's a no brainer. Haven't seen really anything similar yet so I'll just wait a few more days and order the good stuff. Thanks for the advice.
