I like gas for longer flight times. I'm sure electric flies better though. It's personal preference. I'm not a good one to ask on engine size. I haven't flown my little science experiment yet.

Sure. It's going to be a rough summer for me with all the baseball this year, but I'd be happy to do it if the time is available. I fly at flying pilgrims in Canton, which, I think is the closest club to the airport.

Okay, I reached someone on the phone. I'll put a posistive spin on this. What they lack in customer service skills, they must make up for in OUTSTANDING airframes... I hope. That was just an awkward conversation. In all fairness, I read an article recently about how difficult it is getting...

If the chip were on the bottom, that would be great. But it's on the left. :(

Have emailed and called. Waiting for an answer. I'm getting close to needing it to figure out the weight. Just don't know what will happen in I cut into it to use it as a stand-in while I wait on the other one.

Build is going well. I'm pretty please with te quality, with one exception. It appears the paint didn't adhese to the cowl along the edge. I picked up the cowl off of the bench and there was a chip about 1" long and 1/4" wide. The rest of the paint along the edge looks to me like there is...

Enterprise, thanks for the golden rod suggestion. That is what I ended up doing. I used a metal clevis at the carb and a nylon ball socket at the servo arm. FYI, the DLE 35 muffler barely fits. It required a little carving.

That is what I am debating. Either a metal rod with a nylon clevis at the carb and nylon ball socket on the servo or metal clevis at the carb with golden rod and nylon ball socket at the servo. I'm having a hard time thinking a nylon clevis is sufficient, but I've always used some sort of...

I was a little apprehensive about using a mini servo. 3DHS actually recommends a mini servo IF you mount it in the motor box. That is what I'm going to try. The linkage will be about 3 inches long. There should be nearly zero friction and the load from the spring on the carb butterfly should...

Thank you. That is very helpful. I bought a good HV digital servo... I think, Hitec 7245 mini. And my radio is a DX8. I haven't messed with throttle curves yet. Looks like its time I learn.

Throttle Servo Setup Question ? I set up at plane with a DLE 20 last year. I read several threads that mentioned the throttle setup below. Is this necessary on the DLE 30, 35 or any other DLE engine.

Here is what I came up with. Firewall doubler to go on the back side. Brings the firewall up to the recommended 10mm. Trimming to make the doubler fit. Bolt, washer and standoff installed. Triangle stock in the inside of the firewall. Finished product.

I agonized and research for about a week before I decide to go ahead. The weight difference between the DLE 30 and the DLE 35-RA is less than 2 ounces. I actually got physical weights before I made my decision. If a 30 will balance, I'll get a 35 to balance. It might take an ounce more at...

Ooooohhhh... it gets way more interesting. The DLE 30 is a tight squeeze to get the footprint of the standoffs on the fire. The bigger jug on the DLE 35-RA makes for a little wider footprint. OOPS!!! I love an engineering challenge. Notice the bottom right hole.

I'm going to add the thickness on the back side of the firewall just to be safe.

Do you need dimensions of the box?

The DLE 30 recommends the same thing. So if I thicken the firewall, should I also thicken the sides of the box? I'm thinking maybe the side, but not the top and bottom.

DLE 35-RA requires 10mm firewall?!? I'm making good progress on my Velox build. The manual says the engine requires a 10mm thick firewall. The Velox has a 5mm thick firewall. I could epoxy in another 3/16" thickness, but then the box around the firewall is super thin too. Is this...

I think I have settled on Power Hd 1212 th servos. Trying to keep with the light weight theme, I'm looking for a light weight high voltage servo... fast enough to run a throttle and of course, durable. Another 1212? I'm not familiar with high voltage servos. If I were running low voltage, I...
