Hitec's new energy sport - programmable brushless esc series

80A has lower spec BEC and heavier claimed weight than Gecko 85A. I figured if a radio company wants to make ESCs they at least entice you with built in telemetry capabilities, right?

Welcome ryane67 Glad you picked up some planes! I've been wanting to try the MXS- make sure you update us when you fly it.

Enterprise I see. You need a yak 55! Doo it. I determined I generally only use 80% of my throttle range on this plane, as opposed to constantly hitting WOT on other 60" planes e.g. the Laser. I decided to try a tiny 2700 25C 6S battery. The light weight really brings the best out of this...

Being shorter, it responds to very small changes in battery weight and placement. Being such a fast airframe, it may be wise to explore smaller, more optimized motor options. Then again, it's hard to go slower once you fly a plane this punchy.

Mine is on the Wingtube, I still have the Rx battery on the rudder servo mount.

Well, that was interesting. Finally flew the plane. Hard not to enjoy everything about this plane, it's a real kick in the. The Power: it's like there's some control surfaces bolted to the back of a motrolfly. This will never be a floaty plane, but the trade-off is immediate responsiveness...

GYROYou described my setup precisely. Again, the question is what is the optimal spec for the battery.

I don't have a number for you, but it's going to take time to find the best setup for this plane.

+1 on the LG box. I also love being able to join my own elevator halves. Thanks a lot for the report. I just now got mine together and I have a Rx pack mounted by the rudder servo. I know no one uses a separate pack on these planes, but that was the only way I got a neutral CG without gluing...

mazjag How far back did you place the 3300 battery to balance the plane?

Here is a pic of the wingtip extensions. I don't foresee any real problems with the wood screws as long as you drop a little CA into the holes in the wings. I did re-drill the holes in the SFGs, wingtips and spacers to clear the screws.

I opted to swap the supplied wing bolts for longer socket cap screws. M3.5 I think.

There are several layers of covering on the stab opening. I have used a wood burner with a needle tip with great success, but it got bogged down on this plane and damaged the wood a bit. Just looks a bit ugly. Wings have two counter rotation pins. All ball link hardware with Nyloc nuts! I'm...
