Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

The PT40 trainer saw some flight time today. Enlarged control surfaces make a difference and it flew great.

The bottom wing that appears to be in the best shape will be hung up on the wall as art. If I have room to do that with the top wing I will do the same thing. Otherwise I was thinking to cut the ribs out of it for others to use. There is also this partial piece of another plane. They where...

So this should be fun. Flying buddy picked up a used car trailer and it came with a set of busted of full scale Pitts wings. He was just gonna to cut them up and toss them. I told him not to that I would come get them for some nice wall art in the shop.

Fuse is done except for the little strip around the nose where I didn't leave enough overhang on that side. Moved on the tail bits. While I love covering I forgot how much of a pain it was to cover around parts that are already glued to an airframe.

Last week I started restoring an old Trainer. It's an old version one of the Great Plane PT-40. Did some repairs and now the fuse is getting some fresh color on it. I think it has been 3 year or more since I last held a covering iron in my hand. Forgot how much fun it was.

@Snoopy1 i have the 35” crack Fokker, the crack beaver, and the 39” revolto. All are a blast. The revolto Carrie’s energy well. Fokker can fly so freaking slow and literally can knife edge with like one click of rudder trim. Crack beaver is probably the most fun though since it has the big bush...

Here is the vertical stab and the rudder. Rinse and repeat of how I did the horizontal. Will try to start on the fuse in the next couple of days at which point I can introduce a couple of new tools.

Lets do the elevator next. Its basically a repeat of the stab itself.

You will love it. I have not been disappointed with any twisted hobbies plane I have flown.

So change of plans on the stab. Decided it would be better if it was done more truss like. Was easy enough. Just deleted the mirrors and extrusions and modified my original sketch.

Note that I have only been drawing one half of the stab the entire time. H7- Lets start making actual parts. Use the extrude tool to extrude the LE and TE parts and set to new body. H8- Remember after the first extrude Fusion will automatically turn the sketch off so we need to go back and...

Lets get back to this project. First off as I had said before be sure you have created a second save point for your project now that the solid model is complete. So lets start with the tail bits as they are pretty simple. H1- I have just sketched on the bottom of the horizontal stab solid. I...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Yeah this kit currently is a tank. the box with everything in it weighs 5 pounds. I know not all of it will stay but i think if built bone stock after all the electronics went in it would be pushing 7ish or more pounds. I plan to remove a lot of weight. Would be nice to get it to be right at 5...
