I like 'em "BIG"!
Glad to hear that you are happy with the new spectrum receiver, I have the older ones with great success but the new ones had some problems but it looks like they sorted it out and now it is solid unit. I am looking into the new spectrum 12xi radio and the same Ar9140T for my next plane.
So all I need now is radio, receiver and a DA120 to get the ViperST in the air this coming spring.
Get cracking! Lol

There new 12 channel does look nice. For the time being going to stick with G2 8ch. It's actually more radio than I need but having more channels is always nice. Best Wishes with your Viper ST and DA120. The 120 is pure animal. Just wish it wasn't so sensitive with the tune on canisters but it does get a bit easier once run in. For me I saw tuning improvement after about 7 gallons but did not hold on to it long after that. It was one of the first production runs and improvements have since been made. I have decided to keep my biggest planes 70cc or smaller and really enjoy the single cylinders over the twins. IMO singles run better on pipes and cans, tune easier, easier to cool and have better power to weight in general. I think the DJ72 is going to be a really good fit for my Extra. I considered finding a used 85 single (DA or DLE) but that would be WAY overkill and I would have to run a pits style muffler because the proper size canister would not fit the plane.

I just sold my DA 85 to a friend and bought a DA100L. Do not be mistaken the DA 85 is power house and started very easily runs great and never had an issue. But boy is it loud, had it on a standard DA muffler it really was to loud and then on a pitts muffler better but not much could live with it. I like to use standard mufflers cheaper easy to install and minimal weight gain so I decided to go for a 100 twin with standard mufflers weight gain was 10 oz only so we will see how happy I am with the new engine and setup. And hopefully not as noisy.

Been busy getting my buddies MXSR ready for a Maiden. The DLE 60 twin is going to give this one foamy like performance!:)

Looking like a take off weight will be 16.5 to 17.5 pounds. Might have to get me one for the DL50 and put the Pilot on the back burner.
These MXSR's fly really good and it does not really matter who made it or the size. One of those inherent "Excellent designs" I guess :attaboy:.
I did talk him in to getting a nice 3.5" ultimate style true turn spinner for it. Should really set it off nice with the cowl.

4-40x1/4" button head hex screw and blue lock tight. Can see them in the first pic above.
So the extensions are snug fitting over the exhaust stacks and then held in place so as to not come off with the screw? I've done something similar to this but I could never get so lucky as to not have my extensions rattle because the diameter was not the right size. You lead a charmed life my friend. Looks great by the way. Your buddy there should be very honored and pleased that you did this work for him.

I agree with the @stangflyer I did that once and it rattled around the answer is a tight fit with the muffler to get it to work. The one I had difficulty with that the exhaust was so soft that as I kept turning the screw in to keep it tight the muffler just kept bending away.

The extensions slide all the way up the muffler down tubes and are approx. 5" long extending the approx. 3" length of the down tube by approx. 2". Of course this is approximate lol. The outside diameter of the muffler down tubes is 22mm and the inside diameter of the aluminum tubing extension is 22mm. Nice snug fit but not needing any special tool (hammer lol). Once in place I drilled through both the extension and down tube with a 5/64th bit and then tapped 4-40 threads.

We got the plane maiden today and the extensions really quieted down the engine but performance seems the same. It was actually more quiet than my DL50 on a canister!
