Your Thoughts on An Electric System for a 73" SU-26

I have a ton of 5000mah 6s packs. I run them in my showtime and my Spelendor. So I guess I need to rethink the motor. The bad thing is I already have the hacker motor. I really had my heart set on the SU-26, so I am kind of at a stand still. It's always about the stupid money. I guess I will start collecting parts and when I have everything I need, I will build it.

Has anyone here had any experience with General Hobby or Rich Yan? Do you think that plane will be a Turd?

General Hobby is not known for providing the best quality ARF planes out there.

I recently got two ARFS from the general. Both airframes seem well built for the money. One came in slightly damaged and after a few days going back and forth, they requested I send it back for exchange and they are supposed to refund the shipping cost upon receiving the model. It's still in transit, so that is still in the air if they do it or not. The hardware on the MX I'm currently working on is real nice, even comes with fiberglass servo arm extensions. If anything comes in damaged or missing though, you'll have to send it back because they carry no spare parts, and they won't break open a kit. Most of my contact with them has had near immediate response, so I'm pretty happy overall right now. I'm reserving final impressions on the outcome of my return though. The only other thing that comes to mind is you might as well throw away the instructions. Mine have been pretty much useless.

The MX is almost ready. I know a couple others with this model that say its a real nice flying plane. I'm just getting into 3D,, so I probably won't be the best judge of maneuver handling I'm afraid. I'll do videos when I get it up and flying and post here for those interested.

What exact model did you buy?

The green MX is a well built model. I've almost got it ready to maiden. The edge came in with a busted cowl and a few missing parts. I didn't inspect it very well, but from what I did see, it looked nicely built as well.

I almost picked that MXS for my 10cc project! I am interested in your flight report. Any weight data you have would be wonderful. Might be better for the 15cc. Not another project for me!

The alternative to the 4330 is the Hacker A60-6XS. I have one and it is a very good 3D motor. Brandon Chitty won the 38 contest this year with one on his 72" Extra 330SC. 6S 5300 is what I run with it. 20x10 or 21x10 prop.

Just sell the A50-16L. You will get decent money for it.

Is the Motrolfly 5320-330kv not a decent alternative as well? The biggest one of theirs I have run is a 4325 so I am not familiar with their bigger motors.

5320 doesn't have the concentric rear bearing, so it takes a little more wear during 3D. IMHO it runs a pinch cooler, but it's rated for the same power as the 4330.

I want to thank you guys for helping me get this figured out. I think I will have plenty of power on my new plane. And the power I am trying to achieve and tried to compare it to was my friends Miss Wind. His plane has a Scorpion 4025-14 390kv with a 18x10. To me it has an insane display of burst power. If my plane gets down like that, I will be way past happy.

I ditched the SU-26 in favor of an Extra 300. I didn't buy the Extreme flight, but I did get a EXT (extreme turd) Extra 300.

On a serious note, I bought what I could afford. I am still learning to fly 3D, so I cant see my self folding up an Extreme Flight 78" plane. However I wanted a larger plane than what I have now.
