The Hitec brushless sevos have a bulletin out saying not to use them with a powersafe receiver without a PAD device they send with the servo. I don't know if the Futaba brushless servos have the same issue with powersafe or not but it may be worth looking into.

June 2014: Brushless Servo Service Bulletin

While compatible with most radio control devices, the regenerative braking feature of the HSB-9XXX series servos may cause a problem if the device cannot accept a backflow of current. The types of devices that cannot accept this backflow are: Voltage Regulators, Power Safe Receivers and certain BEC circuits whether stand alone or integrated within an Electronic Speed Control. Check with the manufacturer or the Hitec website for a list of compatible models. If your device cannot accept a current backflow, then you must install a PAD (Power Absorbing Device - Hitec PN# 55756) as described in this manual. A PAD is included with every Hitec brushless servo.

I haven't heard of this issue before and I would think guys have been running power safe rxa for a few years with brushless servos. Anyone ever have any issues with servos other then the Hitecs?
 
I know I am glutton for trying new things. I ordered a single one of these to test. If that goes well I will get a set and use them on one of my planes. They appear to be rebranded KST servos and I have had good experiences so far with the 3509s. I am using them in my Aerobeez 90" Extra and the rudder of my 83" EF MXS.

I got a set of 9475SHs on my AJ Laser, but I forgot to test them. I will pull one out when I get the Turnigy and do some more testing. I used the BEC pro in a plane so I will have to come up some another power source for the tester.

I used the PAD in the plane from the start as I don't want to have any issues. The regenerative feature I believe is unique to Hitec. I have both Futaba and Savox brushless in powersafe setups with no issues after 3 seasons. To be honest, I don't see using these expensive servos in anything that does not have a powersafe or a BEC pro. Either way I have little need for the efficiency as I always over do the battery size in the gassers and the draw on the 12s electrics is not worth mentioning as I have a 20% reserve built into my timer with 5300 or 3300 packs.
 
Hmm, not ever seen those. 241 oz-in. For that money I would go with 2274s for a lot more torque and brushless. You get to experience hobby services with those servos for warranty which is a factor. I have had 1 good and 1 bad experience with them on futaba servos.

I did test the Turnigy 2509MG. About 200 oz-in which is disappointing. For $50 something shipped they are competing with hitec 5565 and 5585s. The 3509s have been good so far for me. Flew the plane with them again yesterday and my monster powered MXS has one on the rudder.

I priced out a "budget" 120cc with those and say a DLE-120 and I was shocked at how inexpensive it was. Below $2500 RTF.

MKS 777 Servos

I have been flying for MKS servos this past year and fly them hard and only had one issue and that was my fault, they work as advertised. I have been using the 777 servos for the most part and you can't tear them up. They are priced right with titanium gears, waterproof (which is great if you run smoke) and are fast with high oz-in of torque. As was said previously Joe Smith is flying them and loves them, no blowback.

I plan on using a power supply from Tom Lianza.

I use a medical grade adjustable power supply on my servo test rig, I can control voltage up to 38 volts. Works great when testing servos under critical standards to see if they actually match up to the manufacture claims. I use a load cell connected to a lap top which gives me a digital read out I can easily export to an excel format. I also monitor, DBs, Amps, servo back lash, loss of motion, servo case temp, and voltage flow at the the servo not just the power supply. I built it a couple years ago and works great. You will defiantly be happy with the power supply versus battery.
 
Got some Hitec 9370TH brushless. Pretty impressive. Only the 7950TH and the Savox 2230/2231 have been any better.
