The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

:) The "Turbo" spinner showed up at me door.......:fist_pump:........:( ran it to check its awesomeness and discovered the bearings in the new motor have gone south :face-palm:...........Guess my CHEAP HK plane has got some more shop time :ooh?:.........Did I mention this plane is NOT cheap at all!?.........:ugh:.

Yep every thing smooth as silk until 8k rpm then it shakes like a vibrator. I can move the shaft up and down as if no bearings at all???.......I wonder if the stator bearing housings have cracked ??? will know soon enough but my zeal for electric is going crapola real fast :dancing-poop:. All these issues are just a bunch of frogs on the lily pads in my lake of pain :lol2:.

That spinner is sweet looking however! Shame the motors keep going south.:gnashing:

I got the 3 blade prop in from Adi in Israel today! Everything is perfect on the prop. @TazmanianDevil KNOWS how to pack a prop!

So, I was turning a 29 x 12N at 6300 on the ground. I bolted the 29 x 12EVO on and it is turning 5450 after everything is warmed up! I am confident the 176EVO has enough grunt to pull the plane with this prop and I love the fact that the rpm is down. It looks like Wednesday or Thursday are the best chances to get the plane back in the air. I pulled the 32 x 10 off the del-170 in the Edge and put the 31 x12 on it. We will see how it acts if I get a chance to get it fired up soon. We have got winds blowing 20 to 40 here today so it is not even a good day to just put a plane together and test run it. I had to do it with the Extra though :) One thing I just thought of, the wind was blowing against the back side of the prop while running it so, I probably have a few more rpm than what showed up today.

One other thing, if you are looking for a cf spinner with an aluminum back plate, go to http://billhempel.com and look under accessories. I stumbled across it by accident and now have a 5" spinner cut for a 3 blade prop on its way for $79 after shipping!

Trying an experiment. Had a nice cf landing gear from an old 40% plane that met its demise due to an engine failure long ago and figured I would fill the mounting holes with 30 min epoxy so I could redrill the gear for the 330LX. We will see how things turn out tomorrow after work becuase I am giving the epoxy plenty of time to cure before I try to drill the gear.
