Not sure with ultracote but I know the hobbyking covering I use a lot that the transparent stuff is lighter. Not sure by how much though.

Never used Hobbyking covering have used Monocote it’s ok but right now I like Ultracote the best. How does Hobbyking covering stack up against Ultracote.

Well I could not resist it I just had start building this semi profile. It’s not quite a profile plane I made just wide enough to get some torsional stiffness and to be able to put the tank inside the fuselage on the CG. Cut the motor plate out of 5 mm ply and started the side plates layout out on 3mm plywood.

It goes down really well. To me is goes down very similar to ultracote. One thing to note about it though is its not a thick, you have to be really careful with how much heat you use around seams as they will pull much easier, and some colors fade or discolor really quickly. I covered a plane for a buddy with it and within a year the white was starting to yellow in spots (note none of my planes with white have done that so I think it may have just been that one roll) and a couple probros have had the transparent blue fade really quickly.

Cut parts look good so far.

Only noticed this when I went to put the airplane away, who knows how many flights I put on the airplane with it like this.

Surveying the damage...

This L bracket got pretty bent and was keeping me from pushing everything back together easily. The brackets popped out once I removed the bolts holding each in. I hammered them flat and straight again on the anvil.

Looks like a big mess....

Pushed all of the loose bits back into shape and slathered a lot of glue in place. There wasn't much that Epoxy would be able to do here as I needed something that could wick into the joints. A half bottle of thin CA was generously injected into all of the soft balsa areas (using a fine applicator) to lock it all back in place and thick CA was spread into the bigger joints and all of the corners. Kicker was not used so that the full strength of the glue could be achieved. It's a strong as new, if not stronger!

Some of the scrap covering I cut away from the airplane for cooling holes was re-used to cover up the ugly areas. And wouldn't you know it, the color is a perfect match!!

My velcro strap gave up the ghost after almost 100 flights on a previous airplane and 50+ on this one, too bad because I really liked these (no longer available).

A big zip tie will do to lock the ignition back in place.

Bolted the gear back on and secured the cuffs back in place (so glad the cuffs are bolted in place and not glued!), she's ready to throw down again!!!

Nope it is set to 0 right and down but it does need a touch of right. On mine I think 1 degree would prolly be enough but I just mixed it out in my radio. Basically once I get to half throttle it starts to bring some left rudder in to keep it tracking straight.
Thanks for the info on the film I may try some just a cost thing. And I will leave the thrust at zero and like you did tune it out with the radio that is sometimes easier to do.
