Postal Profiteers The Free Money Misers

Hey guys, have you ever wanted to make free money on the backs of peoples hard work? I for one despise people who take advantage of others. One of the ways people like to make free money is to charge more for shipping, than it actually costs to ship an item. Let me say, I do understand in some situations packing an item does have a cost associated with it, and I am not speaking to that situation. I am speaking of charing one price for shipping, and it costing much less than that actual cost.

A little back story about a company profits. If you were to have access to the profits and loss statements of large retail companies, you would find that 6 cents on a dollar is a huge profit margin. Many businesses that make 3-4 cents on the dollar are highly profitable businesses (it's all about the volume). Now I know small business does not fall into that same model, but if you are honest, hard working and offer products that people love, you will succeed without cheating folks from their hard earned money,

You see, Postal profiteers really piss me off, this is why I started this thread. Also so people who despise postal profiteers as much as I do can have a place to share who these people are so we can avoid them. I know to some, a few bucks seems petty, but to me it's the principal. If you are honest and hard working, you deserve my business. If you take cheap shots, and dupe people out of their money, you deserve to be outed, and be out of business.

The first person I will out un this thread is.....

Communications Specialist Inc.
426 West Taft Ave.
Orange, CA 92865
www. com-spec.com

They over charged almost 1/3 the total shipping costs. There was zero packing material used (they used a flat rate box, and priority tape with no bubble warp, peanuts or paper used). I called them to see what their position was for profiting on shipping. Paula original person and the person who I spoke to about the over payment for shipping said, "lots of companies do that", "it's just part of doing business". What... No it's not!

You see I gave them my business when looking for a radio locator for my rc planes. The PR-100 Receiver & PT-1B Transmitter Lost Model Locator had all of the features I wanted, so I bought it. The product is nice, but the cheap shot they took to squeeze a few extra bucks from me has pissed me off. If they had offered to refund the over payment, that is one thing, but they acted like this is just how good business is done. Boy are they so so wrong.

Please post your RC related purchases where the seller is clearly a postal profiteer. Even if a single person is saved from this greedy behavior, I feel the time and effort used to make and follow this thread us worth it.

To all of the companies that do it right, I commend you. To the postal profiteers, I say, SHAME ON YOU!

I agree with you... shipping is an area I have seen people and businesses trying to make a profit and I hate that! I owned a company where we shipped stuff all the time and I will say calculating shipping costs for several different products with several different shippers is really difficult to stay on top of! At least it was 4 years ago when I was doing it.

I agree that shipping is a huge pain in the butt. I also believe if you are in business you need to work hard to take care of your customer. You and I both know after the transaction is competed , it's easy to see if you made a profit from shipping . If a company is not smart enough to hide their postal profiteering (swindle their customers), they should offer a credit back to the customer in the end.

As much work as it is to take care of your customer to insure they are not being over charged, it far less work than filing bankruptcy ;) Karma is a bi+€#.

Yup I agree and I am not defending the practice at all... just sharing my experience with calculating shipping for each and every item (which changes all the time) which can be a whole job in itself but it's one job that should not be taken lightly! That's why there are fulfillment companies out there. Fulfillment companies warehouse the product for you and handle all of the shipping needs for such companies. They stay on top of the latest pricing and shipping rules etc.. They also are not cheap.

I'm like Tom and hate when vendors pad their shipping prices. If a vendor is going to charge usps priority mail prices, you should charge the actual rate.
The boxes are free, as is the pick up from your home or business.

Well, I've unfortunately got to post about a postal profiteer. So... I made an order from PSP. They charged me $7.50 for shipping. Then I received this:

My bill:

So where is the extra $2.25? It didn't come from the packing material, they used a lowes newspaper ad.

I don't see why vendors don't simply increase the prices to cover what they want to charge, instead of trying to hide it in the shipping.

Not trying to take sides because I agree with your last point but they did not charge you $7.50 for shipping. They charged you $7.50 for shipping and handling.

Yes, I understand that.... I guess I just don't know where the "handling" is, as USPS picks up... All they did was put my stuff in the free USPS box with a little wadded up newspaper.

Either way, not the end of the world, but it just struck a nerve I guess

Handling is part of doing business. It like going to McDonalds and because they are training a new handler (order taker), they charge you more to handle your burger because it cost the company more to get it to you. I dont buy it. If they want to make more of a profit, then charge more for the stuff. Don't charge more to ship something that it costs to ship it. There is no such thing as free money...

IMO a seller that charges one price to ship something, and finds it actually cost less to send it, they should contact the customer and refund the over charge. This is customer service. Instead they keep the money, and come to expect the extra profit as part of their business model. Total crap is what it is, and after they get me once I contact them and tell them what I think. If they make it right and promise to not do it again, I do business with them again. If they dont make it right, piss on them and I never give them business again.

PSP did that same crap to me. I contacted them and they didn't respond. As much as I love my PSP cap in my MXS... Never again will they see a dime of my money. They obviously dont need my business as much as they needed the couple of free bucks extra profit they took from me.

You want to see a company that does shipping right.. buy from 3Drcparts.com . He knows how to take care of his customers. I wish he carried everything I need, he deserves my business because he takes care of his customers, and is honest and fair with shipping costs! Sorry to go off on a rant, this topic really really pisses me off.

thanks for the plug, I sometime lose money shipping at a 2.95 flat rate, but at the end of the month it is a wash and I have repeat customers, that is worth more to me than anything.
