Working on two Landing gear formers. Prepping them for glue. Want to do a batch to limit wasting hysol. Adding some carbon fiber strips in the center to handle the bending moment and reduce the stress riser where the 1/4" longeron will be installed. Also looking to add a 1/4" sq balsa piece for shear accross the top. The cutouts are to make room for the aluminum angle landing gear struts. Thanks to Kevin for cutting these out. Have to say he nailed the shapes just right on the first try!

Thanks! Gotta have clamps! LOL. I am dying to get the 100 coming. Getting close I think otherwise its absence will soon be halting progress. Can't have that! Especially with Kevin doing his build! LOL.

Got some more work done this weekend, including bagging my first part -- the turtledeck!! Thanks @Terryscustom for your informative thread it definitely took the mystery out of it!! Also thanks to @Dave (Dave Dixon) and @IMAC FANATIC for allowing me to borrow your vacuum bagging hardware! I got the landing gear tee nuts glued in and also checked the fit after gluing the carbon supports on the landing gear formers. Got the wing tube phenolic glued in the fuse and sanded smooth. Also, started on the wing tube installation and checking the wing fit against the fuse. Got the turtle deck sheeting cut out - what a PITA trying to trim the balsa sheets for nice edges - I can see why you guys have come up with sanding and jigs for running them through a table saw! Best part, my youngest son helped mix and spread the glue!!

Here is the completed turtle deck. Nice and flat on the bottom after sanding even with the foam. Will have to spread it a bit to line up with the outside of the fuse. Got a little happy with with the vacuum. 13in Hg. Very happy with the results. Going to start on the rudder next. Any thoughts on whether or not to put carbon strips on the trailing edge and across the top of the counter balance of the rudder? Can't believe how well this vacuum bagging system works (well I can, but still... wow!)!
