DA-170 Engine Relation to Mejzlik32x10L Prop

    If you have a DA-17o engine and it is rotating at 1,500 rpm does that mean that the Mejzlik 32x10L propellor is also rotating at 1,500 rpm?

    How would one go about determing the rpm of the prop if the rpm of the engine is know?

    Thanks for the help.

    The propeller rotational speed (revolutions per minute,rpm) and the engine speed are the same (assuming the propeller is securely fixed to the shaft). Hope that answers the question?
     
  3. so how does one find the tip speed of the prop to know whether the prop will go supersonic at somepoint in the RPM range.

    3.14 x Prop Diameter x RPM = Inches per Minute of prop tips

    768 MPH / 60 * 5280 * 12 = Inches per Minute of Sound

    I'm not good at the calculations, but I can tell you that my DA 170 with a 32x10 prop will rip pretty good at about 3/4 throttle.
