In my spare time lately I have been messing with an UAV/FPV project of mine after I fly UAVs at work for 10 hours a day....Yea there is something wrong with me....but I do love my job and love messing with this stuff. To start out I have zero interest in seeing how far away from me I can go... I do live in AZ and it is perfect to test those type of things, but its a lot of money to send away 5 miles away from you and lose it! So I will stick to about a mile out for now! Anyway.

The goal I set in the Fall was to have a UAV/FPV plane going so I can fly it out of my 6x12 trailer which will soon have AC in it for the summer time. The plane is the Ready Made R/C Anaconda and it is being controlled by a Pixhawk Autopilot. She is flying nicely on this autopilot and there are endless things you can do with this autopilot. The plane can do auto take offs and I have done an auto LANDING with it before!
For my long range system I have the Dragon Link system plugged into my Futaba 18MZ.

For video I am running 1.3 video which this antenna and tx is located on the right wing and on the left wing I have the Dragon Link RX and Antenna.

Gimbal I am running the 3 axis G3 Gimbal with a Go Pro Hero 4 Silver. I have a flight condition where I can control the gimbal with the throttle and rudder stick and still be able to fly the plane with the right stick. (Shown in the video below)

In the back I have a Canon Point and Shoot camera for Mapping Imaging and in the front have a lipstick camera for FPV flying. All three cameras go into a video switch which I can control which video feed I want to see live by just flipping a switch on the tx.

In the trailer I will have three screens. One will be my camera screen. Second will be my Laptop screen which will display an attitude indicator, airspeed, and altitude, and an extension of my laptop will be a tv screen which will display Mission Planner Autopilot Software.

Cant wait to finish out this project. Its been a fun and challenging one! I can get about a hour flight time with the two 4 Cell 5500 packs that I have.

Share your FPV/UAV projects! You gotta admit this stuff is fun! Of course keep it safe and be smart about it! I hate it a few people have made this stuff look bad!

This is when I had two tx and two rx. One tx to control the plane and one to control the gimbal. This was a lot of fun. You can really see how much the gimbal is working during the landings to keep the gimbal straight.

Expect some calls from me when I get home next week. I have the pixhawk and anaconda coming.
No problem. A really good starting point to start reading on is the Ardu Plane Website. It goes over a lot about the pixhawk and how to set it up for the first time.

Ground Station is almost completed. Going to do a test run tomorrow at the flying field before I go and clean up everything to look neat.
