Aerobeez 90" Extra 330SC (50cc)

Decided to tackle the wheel pants first. I really like the preinstalled blind nuts in the pants, I think these hold up much better than the big wood screws many other vendors use.
Upon close inspection, these pants are beefy! This makes me happy, as I'm constantly forced to replace the thin wheel pants on some of my other brand airplanes because they aren't made strong enough.

Here are some comparison photos where you can see the extra thickness in the Aerobeez pant at the mounting spot, as well as the better and thicker fiberglass installation.

Ok, so first off, I installed the axles on the gear, and then test fit everything.

As you can see, everything is nicely fit so there are no big gaps. So I decided to mark the spots on the axle for the wheel collars so I can grind some flat spots.

Off to fetch the dremmel and cutoff wheel. I ground a fair sized flat spot for the set screw to actually recess into.

Then I mounted everything up. I used a small dab of red loctite on the screws holding the pants on, and the inner collars of the axles, and I used blue loctite on the outer collars.

All done with the main gear :)

If your not going to use those fiber servo arms I sure could use them on my 71'Slick hint hint:D

I've got a ton of the them from this kit and others... send me a pm with you address and what you need, and I'll get them out next week.

So while I think this firewall looks plenty strong, and should hold up fine... I'm thinking I might reinforce it anyway... Thoughts?

I've got a couple of L brackets I can cannibalize:

I usually drill large holes in the sides of the firewall the size of my palm and then put a monocote sleeve around the firewall. Never had a problem before making my firewall lighter. That firewall, as is, looks stronger than my 30cc electric Slicks.

LOL I guess it depends on if how you land your planes also. Some people I fly with bounce 5 times down the runway before the wheels settle down. :bouncy:

I suppose Id probably replace the angle stock with the metal reinforcement although those interlocking tabs in the wood look pretty strong to me.
