    Mine started much easier Sunday. Once warmed up, it popped on 1st flip then 3-5 flips after choke released. Fun weekend, flew a lot.

    Yep, let the moisture cook off from the water based minwax poly u and water based paint and there's very minimal weight gain. A hard shell of automotive clear coat isn't that much more weight. But calculate your model build time then double it if you decide to paint it.

    1/2 oz glass and Minwax water based polyurethane is about as heavy as monocote. Here's my 1st (and only) practice run at glass and Minwax. Scratch built so that kept the weight down but this is 8 lbs even, perfect for pattern planes. Paint is water based but clear coat is automotive grade.

    My primary engine for years was my 3W-106, choked, it will pop in 4 or 5 flips, then 3-5 flips and it's running. Not always but generally. My new DA120 seems to need 10 or more flips under choke and a similar number to start. Don't know why but it appears the DA needs more. Either engine...
