    Tried the brazing rod as it is much cheaper. Works just fine and very strong joint.

    I grabbed a box of flux coated bronze brazing rods at Lowe's. 12 rods for $6.00.

    It's been several days since I posted and assumed my plumbers silver solder was fine so didn't remember all of the earlier suggestions. Thanks, 56%silver it is.

    What silver solder please? My plumbing silver solder doesn't work. I see 5% silver on the box. I have silver soldered 10's of 1000s of copper joints with this style solder.

    I suppose primarily my lack of tailwheel concern is the difference in flying. Some of you guys fly 50 flights a week, i'm more like 50 flights a year. We have a grass runway, even at my last (now defunct) club I took of and landed on the grass beside our 750' runway. So I suppose less wear...

    I taxi down the runway, turn and take off, then land, turn and taxi back to pilot station. How would upgrading my tail wheel help me there? Maybe I need to fly enough to wear out the cheap stock tail wheel.
