The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

OUCH that's gotta hurt!!! I know it hurts when a standard high torque servo gets you, can't imagine anything more...

    Aerobeez "BANSHEE" 91" Slick build

I can't say what the cause was, like I said most of the plugs (power including) were disconnected from the receivers. I have no idea if that was from the crash, or it happened in flight (did I mention this thing spins like a top in a pop top?? Maybe that unplugged the receiver..). You can do 2...

Yeah it sucks but it's one of those things where this is the risk we take in the hobby. No airplane lasts forever, sometimes the longest you get out of an airplane is the first flight.

    Aerobeez "BANSHEE" 91" Slick build

It was an impressive airplane, it had zero coupling on knife edge up until a fully stalled high alpha, zero wing rock upright or inverted, required very little rudder input to maintain inverted harrier, had a ballistic roll rate, was a MONSTER on power with the DA70... Hard to resist such an...

All I know is I had no control over the airplane. The receivers and a lot of the servo plugs were separated in the crash (including power plugs), and a post range-check revealed everything operating as normal. I'll be buying another airplane, there's no way I'm going to not have one of...

    Aerobeez "BANSHEE" 91" Slick build

Airframe is as good as firewood now, engine was still running when it hit the ground. Difficult to say, the receivers and most of the plugs were separated in the crash, I have no idea what really happened other than I didn't have control over the airplane. The engine is packed up and will ship...

I unfortunately have some sad and unexpected news for those who were looking to see a flight video. I honestly have no idea what happened but today I went home with my tail between my legs and a freshly smashed 91" Aerobeez Slick, plus a busted off DA70 cylinder head and broken mufflers...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Well the 91" Aerobeez Slick flies and it flies AWESOME!! The DA70 is a little monster under the cowl, and getting stronger every flight. Hovers just under half throttle which feels very odd to me, I'll have to dial in a bit of a throttle curve to solve that. Headed out to burn up some more...

Terry's Laser Trick - Knock Off

The 70 and the 120 are home run engines for DA, I love both of mine. Worth every penny :yesss:

She flies!!!!!! :woohoo!::woohoo!: Real quick flight video. Trying to be relatively gentle on the engine before it has a chance to break in fully. I can feel it getting stronger with every flight!! I have 4 flights on it sofar, going to put 4-5 more flights on it tomorrow and then see...

The engine had some time in on it, plus I didn't keep it there very long. Should be totally fine. Yes it is, thank you! Flies much more precise and straighter than my 70" Slick (which is not sloppy at all). Lots of power, very floaty, very responsive. Can't wait to get this engine broken in...

Well it flies!!!! The DA70 is INSANE with how much power it has!!!!! And it has only gotten stronger every flight!!!! Today I only put 4 flights on it, 2 gentle and 2 very very mild flights, still breaking the engine in and getting used to the airplane. It is just a tiny tidbit...

Every Slick I've flown flew rock solid in any attitude so I can't agree with the precision aspect being lesser than any other airplane out there. Either way, it's going to fly awesome. I did one last mod tonight and that was moving the ignition battery out from the cowl back to the wooden tray...

    Aerobeez "BANSHEE" 91" Slick build

The dual Maxima receivers provides you with dual redundancy so if one receiver loses link with the transmitter, at least you still have the other one controlling part of the airplane until the link is reestablished. It also provides me with more channels to plug power into since I am actually...

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Actually no, unless there is an active recovery flight system (like ACT or SAFE) then the gyro doesn't fly the airplane. All it simply does is eliminates any of the oscillations or bumps in the air from wind or turbulence or otherwise a poor flying model. YOU still have to tell the airplane...
