The I'm going out flying thread 2016

I was already down at the field and didn't think anything of it until I got there. I guess I shoulda just kept it a mellow day at home since I was nonstop busy on Saturday, and out in the heat too! :oblong:

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

So there we were, shooting the breeze... When suddenly a wild Rooster appeared... He must be someone's house pet because he wasn't afraid of nothing (even me getting right up to him to smack him off my Jeep since he wouldn't leave.... :oblong: ). All kinds of crazy birds in the air today!!!!

If you ever need a custom screw.....

Hey good to know Cam, I'm with you on that extension bolt, not so sure I would trust it. It looks plenty sturdy but there's just a bit of nerves with so many different joints.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Went down to the shop to try and maybe escape the heat (close to 100 in the shade...) and the inside of the shop managed to climb to high 80's, cooler than outside but a few minutes was all I could stand before I decided to retreat back into the AC. My hopes are that tonight will be more...

    Power boards/expanders really needed?

Hey some people are better at pulling stuff out from where the sun don't shine than others :laughing: I'm with Terry though, I'd sell the receivers and get the ones purpose built for GS applications.

    Power boards/expanders really needed?

Terry is basically the guy I take a lot of advice from, he is very sound in his reasoning.

    Power boards/expanders really needed?

This is just me but I wouldn't use anything but a fail-on style switch. The reason being is if vibration gets to the internals in the switch it can wreak havoc on them. Some people get away with it for years but it's cheap insurance to assure your airplane doesn't lose power if you decided to...

    Power boards/expanders really needed?

As long as your power switch is a soft/fail on style switch then I'd say you're golden. I personally like to use Fromeco Wolverine and Badger switches because if anything goes wrong the circuit is designed to automatically turn on and keep the power on to prevent loss of control.

    New Aerobeez

I've been told it's in their next container which is due any time now. Just like all of the other new Aerobeez airplanes, it features a gratuitous use of carbon fiber throughout so stab tube and wing tubes are both going to be CF. Here's the main features from the website: Covered in High...

    BlueBird HB 50B servos

This is borrowed from Chads website but you can see how servo wires are arranged on the pins- this picture in particular is for a 3 way servo connection, so it's a busy wire job: Otherwise there is one pin dedicated for each servo wire, the normal green MPX connectors have only 6 pins so...

    Woo Hoo! No FAA intrusion.....maybe

Talking with some of the FAA volunteer reps, they have said that us modelers who fly our toy airplanes at our own private airfields or at AMA clubs or events or whatever are of very little concern to the FAA. We know the safety aspects and most of us actively engage in them, we're not dummies...

    Power boards/expanders really needed?

A lot of modern receivers have much higher current capabilities and some do have their own battery management systems built in so there is little need for a power expansion system. The system I like to use is PowerBox SRS (Serial Receiver System) components with a pair of single line style...
