We have a winner of a chicken dinner :applause:. Sorry Snoop.... "No Soup for you" :sorry: . Rob gets what's behind curtain number 3 :cautious:.HeHe

Close Doug :congrats:. It is actually the Purr'n Power mount/mustang 50 combo. Will be going in a Byron P-47.

I just got to jig it up for a test run. Needs to be mounted in the plane to determine where to cut (if necessary) the muffler inlet header so the exhaust adapter fitting can be welded in place. For the bench test just going to "shove it" together. It is in really good shape and engine looks to be very low time. The owner just wants to make sure it starts and runs.

Have give that to you never seen that engine or muffler before, that is new one to me, looks like a heavy power plant. Good for a warbirds that always need weight up front.

Well if it don't run, I know where there is a red headed 55 for dirt cheap. If I had a tiny plane that small, I would already have bought it. But hey, I'll back away cuz I know ya just gots ta have a red head. Even if she's a single lunger.

It looked familiar because I built a Byron Corsair with one running a Quadra 50 in 1994. Unfortunately I never got to hear it run or see it fly since the guy I built it for was from Mexico. He didn't want me to test run it because he was afraid the gas smell would cause problems in customs.

That is one beautiful bird. Nicely done.

Another airplane I need!!
Well how about that. Finally someone took some sound advice. I've been wanting a smaller Raven for quite some time.

Well I ran into a bit of a snafu this evening with the canopy replacement on the big Yak. After getting everything ready for the replacement canopy to be installed, I fully looked over the canopy and noticed far too many blemishes and imperfections. Also, the overall size of the canopy is bigger than the original. I am wondering if it was designed as such so that it could be trimmed to fit. Which I would probably be okay with if it weren't for so many imperfections. Right on top of the canopy in front of one of the cross braces, it looks as though the plastic has a deformity in it. Kind of like a bulge. Also, the paint lines are not perfectly straight and there are like tiny "dots" under the black paint on the top cross brace. If it were just one small imperfection, I would probably go with it, however there are just too many for me to be satisfied with. I have emailed Tony at Pilot RC with the photos and information. Hopefully they will get back to me soon. For the time being, I am not going to complete the canopy install at this time. I am hoping Tony and his team will get me the correct fitting canopy with no imperfections sent out soon. I did however get the rear canopy support glued in. Now it will be a waiting game.

Here are just a couple of photos of the imperfections.

I will keep you all posted on the outcome of this minor setback.
Right after I posted this last night, I emailed Tony at Pilot R/C with my concerns of the new Yak canopy. It wasn't three hours and I had a response from Tony regarding the deformed and blemished Yak canopy. As he has done in the past, he requested photos of the problematic canopy. In which I complied. I expect to hear back from him with news of a replacement canopy for the Behemoth Yak (2). I sure would like to get this big girl out and play with her. We had 55 degrees today with no wind and partly cloudy skies. Doah...perfect weather for this monster. Guess I will just have to settle for the newly "canned" Baby Yak-Ster. Oh darn.... LOL

Made a little fuel tube holder for my tank vent. I put everything together for the first time and it’s pretty tail heavy.... by a couple inches I think. Primitive test, but I haven’t placed a battery in it yet and it’s 11.3lbs wow

Tail heavy? Ah yeah!! That's when they fly the best. Just point the nose up and mash the gas pedal to the floor. happy-nodding-smiley-face-emoticon.gif

74” 35cc

Had the engine from my 71” slick and it was over a pound lighter I think. Need to tell that minion to loose some weight... a little chubby he is...
Edit: just looked up the edge on extreme flights website. It should be 11.5-12.5 so once a battery is added, it should be on Target I suppose.

Old router that gets hot really quick.

How it was mounted in my table saw wing before. Just a hole in the middle and bolted on.

New router. Well was new over a year ago and just now getting around to using it.

Scrap aluminum turned into an insert plate.

Used new router with straight but to cut away where I marked out for the insert plate. Not pictured but I came back with jig saw and cut it out leaving a 1/2” lip all around.

Insert plate and router installed. This makes big changes easy. Next up I need to build a router lift but that will come later.

View of it all. Made a new zero clearance insert for the saw as well.

Saw dust produced from finally using my thickness planer for the first time.

Got some new nice chisels so I figured they where worthy of being displayed and not just bouncing around in a drawer.

Just some scrap pallet wood run through the planer to clean it up.

All in all yesterday was a productive day in the shop though none of it was RC related.
