Ah yes, the familiar generalization that anyone can fly a drone, just take it out of the box and fly. It's a reliable standby used to marginalize and minimize the skills of anyone who fly these aircraft.

I wasn't minimizing anyone's flying skill. The statement was made as a joke. That's why there is a winking smiley at the end of it. It's become obvious you just seem to be here to stir the pot and try to cause conflict. This isn't FG.

It isn't RCU either, or FaceBook...not sure what one website has to do with another, relevance? One constant across different sites though is the lack of tolerance for a different point of view though, which sometimes results in comments like the ones above. A differing opinion equates to pot stirring and conflict. Guess sites would be much better if everyone has the same points of view about everything, and we just +1'd all the comments.

We here at GiantScaleNews try our best to get along and have friendly and sometimes spirited conversations about things. What you wont find here is the type of flaming and trolling that you see on FG all the time, that is the relevance. Differences of opinions and points of view are great, but picking apart everything everyone says that doesn't hold you point of view is unnecessary.

Funny thread to a certain point then it get's ?. It also reminds me of my father, hope he does not visit here, he is a rather peculiar individual whom will argue or discuss any subject from either side as long as it stirs debate. I hate having a conversation with him because one never actually knows his real views on any given subject.
As for my views on MR's, I don't much care either way. They are cool but not my cup of tea. My view on the AMA is they dropped the ball in arguing for the protection of the hobby and in my opinion it was done for financial gain or a higher political stature. They should have, from day one, argued that all r/c operating under the previously mandated guideline's be left be. Anyone outside of those guidelines are fair game for full prosecution, pretty much as it has been for many years.
As for the AMA candidates, I have no working knowledge as to whom they are or what they stand for other than what they have publically done. Frank Tiano I do know, I what he does and how he feel's.
As for comments slanting toward either one of the current options for the "BIG" President, well, neither are worthy in my opinion. One is a traitor and will let our people die if it suits her agenda and the other a loud mouth reality star. And here I have went and done what should not be done here, voice a political opinion.

That's a great point, and I hope that's really the case but based on your earlier comment that you arrived at that " It's become obvious you just seem to be here to stir the pot and try to cause conflict", that didn't seem like a friendly comment or part of a spirited conversation. Thanks for the discussion though.

LOL, now you've gone and done it. :)

Your father sounds like a hoot. Any good debater should be able to know the strengths and weakness of their position and argue either side of a position from one moment to the next.

As for the AMA, I suspect the issue of what they did will be debated for a long time to come. Personally, I'm glad they continue to advocate for all legal things RC, and have done so over the past 75 plus years. To have not done so would have lead to the death of the AMA (not the hobby) long ago. The advent of MR and Drone technology came at a tough time, and I think they had to make a call. Looking for ways to continue the grow the membership shouldn't be looked at as a bad thing (ie they did it for the money), no other segment of this hobby was really growing, and the membership profile continues to age. As for the prosecution piece, anyone flying outside of the rules and regs will be subject to full prosecution, regardless of AMA affiliation. That's the way it should be...do something stupid and get caught, get ready to pay the price. There are going to be a few folks I think that will try to push the limits and I suspect they will be caught eventually and pay a heavy price. Anyway, those are my own thoughts and opinions. Have a good night.
