Wheel collar attachment

Designed to grip evenly around shafts, clamp-on collars provide more holding power than set screw shaft collars without marring the shaft. Slide a collar onto your shaft and tighten the socket-head cap screw to secure.

Is it me, or does this description sound slightly pornographic?

I simple grind a locking flat on the axle that the grub recesses into. Use some blue loctite on the grub and even if it gets loose the grub is still locked in that recess. All you have to do in preflights is try and rotate the collar. If its loose it will rotate slightly and like I said the grub will have to back out a lotto slide out of the recess but the loctite really prevents that.

That works great also, but my problem is the tiny Allen wrench or the Chinese set screw round out easily. And I never seem to get the flat filed in the correct spot.

Another trick if you have enough axle sticking out past the collar is to slip a piece of tygon over the axle in the outside of the wheel collar. It is very secure, have to cut it off to remove it.

Not just you, Brian. All them little ass allen wrenchs suck, doesnt matter if it is China metal, SAE or Metric name brand. They all round over and round out the head.

We used those shaft collars where I used to work at. Our sprockets didnt move as often, but when they did...... it was a PITA to realign the chain and sprocket to the track.

Nope,

Part # 6157K67, fits 3/16" axle, is $2.32 each.

Part # 6157K12, fits 1/4" axle is $2.13 each.

Those are the two most popular sizes. I use Dubro 3/16 axles on my planes.
