I have many .60/.61 two strokes. I have an OS .65 but its in a plane.

The motor just sticking out the front just bugs me so it is raining today, all the maintenance is caught up so decided to make a balsa cowl for the plane. Just needs some covering and it will be done. Nice that it is made from balsa no paint.

There's an airplane in every piece of balsa, finding it is what makes this hobby so much fun.

Ok 2 days later and a lot of balsa dust I have a small cowl. Making it was easier than covering it going from a square to a round with in 3 1/2 inches makes for some challenges. Even if I say so myself this does look better.
Just for interest sake it took 28 pieces of 1/4 thick balsa laminated together to mak the cowl Block before carving and drilling.

First a post about the 104" Extra 260. Its coming along nicely. Started running some wires, got throttle setup, and cowl fitted. This will all come off one lasts time though as I still need to glue in the baffles and I have a nice Blazing stars mount for the engine now over the small standoffs. All parts have now shown up so it wont be long before this plane is ready to go.

Now for project #2. Same buddy I got the crashed 260 from has now send this my way. 91" V2 EF Extra 300. He said he clipped the aileron during a low KE pass and cartwheeled it. In surprisingly good shape for that type of crash. Items that where damaged. Left Aileron tip, rudder counterbalance, cowl scuffed up, canopy was dented it, left side of fuse for stab mount was ripped off fuse. cowl and canopy will be fine the way they are it will just be a beater plane.

First to be repaired is the rudder. I just cut the busted LE off and made a new one. Wicked some thin CA into cracked sheeting. Sanded it all to shape then added some covering. Can never go wrong with checkers.

Now a start on the aileron. Removed covering and cut away bad stuff. Used busted ribs to cut new ones and that's where I'm at for now.
