Did you use anything to help the covering stick back down like Balsarite? I see there's another product called Cover Grip made by Deluxe.

Picked up a new to me plane last week and got it maidened yesterday. 65" 3DHS Vyper. It came Receiver ready but I wasn't happy with a few aspects of it. First off was the ESC. Previous owner had it mounted all the way back near the rudder pull pull servo and second its a 12S rated ESC so it was huge for this thing. I had a spare T-motor AM116 laying around so I installed it just having to change the BEC voltage to 6V for the older servos in the plane. Second not shown in the pictures is the previous owner was apparently a huge fan of the Power Pole connectors and they where everywhere. I swapped to traditional bullet connects for the motor to ESC connection and my preferred XT90 connector for the battery.

I will say for an older plane it is in really good shape. few areas of the covering where I was able to just take an iron and seal the edges back down but there where a few areas where the clear had separated so nothing I could do there.

As for flying. I got a single flight on it yesterday and my initial thoughts are its really good. has a Turbo Raven feel to it. that one flight told me I liked it enough to want to pull the older standard servos in favor of new high voltage Mini's which will either be Savox 1250's I have on hand or order a set of my favorites the Theta 989.

Looks like you have nice clean looking plane. You like me you have to rebuild the plane to make it yours. It also gives you a chance to have good look at the condition of the plane.

If it hadn't had power pole connectors all through it I would have just flown it as is to see first.

Put the Kolm off to one side and Started on prepping for summer flying season. My old favourite always start the season with this plane. Checked the engine set the valves changed the glow plug and doing a capacity test on the 2 batteries. Once that is done run the engine and wait for the first good flying day.

Last weekend I had the chance to see a unique traveling exhibit for F1. Thought you might enjoy a coupe of photos. My favorite was a lineup of chassis, showing the progress. Also got a kick out of the driver and helmet display.
