I had to play with that data a little

Since you used age brackets I had to estimate the age of each member of the population. I used excel to generate a random number in each age bracket for each member of the bracket. Took a few minutes My numbers should be close to the actual numbers if I had the actual age for each member. Any differences will be statistically insignificant.

Average age = 46.73 years old
Standard Deviation = 12.80593 years
Most members will fall between the ages of 21 and 72 (+ or -two standard deviations from the mean).

Next we should gather data on the intervals between members joining so we can estimate when the next members will join

I think we need to start getting more younger people away from the video games and into this great hobby LOL. I have finally after 7 years been replaced as the youngest member at my field. From age 13 to 20 I have been the youngest, not we have a 15 year old at the field.

Nice work guys. Guess I was optimistic with my 28-35. We just act like kids I guess!

@dry7 it would be interesting to get data from club membership roles and see how closely the forum data represents the hobby as a whole. Im guessing the data is a little biased based on older folks being less likely to jump into a forum and younger kids not being allowed to based on age. There could be other factors as well.

I agree. I'd put us at about 5-10 years on the young side of the club average and that's a little scary for the hobby. I bet AMA has some demographics they would share.

I agree. I find flying to be miles ahead in terms of learning and down right fun compared to video games. Although a bit if GTA V never hurts

Just got a DX9 and have just started to wireless buddy box with my son's dx8 (my hand me down). He just turned 11... wish I started him earlier.
