Matt

Azarr was a legend... In the mid 90's I remember him when I was so young prolly 7 or 8 and we were at our flying field in donnelsville Ohio and he was flying a .60 size spitfire all electric with retracts and all on the huge NiCad packs! Before electric was a thing he was doing it!! I lost touch when we moved to Maryland and I got older but recently talked to him almost once a week! Sad sad loss for us all! He was such a genuine guy!!

I am like Sleepy, bumbed because I won't see Azarr at the Horizon Indoor. He wrote to me and we talked about devices that kept us alive. He had a pacemaker implanted 19 years ago, they had never changed the battery, unheard of really, he had a check-up and he said they were now trying to figure out what to do with him. Replace the battery, put in a new pacemaker, newer and state of the art, compaired to the one he had. I got work he went to a clinic for a soft tissue injury on the 13th and then the corrner ruled he died on the 14th.

Azarr was an unique guy. Always up front with his opinions and as many have said, he was a leader in electric flight. He also was a very good painter. He said he started with a cheap airbrush, then moved up to a more expensive one, that kept up for years. He had an expensive one and one comment he made was he was unsure if the expensive air brush was a lot better than some of the ones that was cheaper.

I commented one day fresh blueberries. Azarr said, the only way to eat them was in a pie. I took a blueberry pie to the Horizon Indoor so we both could eat it. For some reason Azarr had gotten some bad food, was sick for a couple of days and didn't eat anything till Saturday night. He thought it was food poisoning of some sort. He finally felt better, but never got a piece of pie.

He was a special guy. He will be missed by many. He was an inovator, did many creative things and loved his Jeep. He said it was the worst riding vehicle he ever owned, but loved it just the same.
Here are some Images of him.

The other thing that Azarr loved, at least I think he did, was he loved to have fun. One day at the Horizon Indoor, I fell asleep. Azarr, Pete & Carolynn Foss put a green boa around me and took pictures. I was fast asleep and then I heard someone laughing, I think it was Azarr chuckling. I woke up, but by then the Images were already on the web. It is a great Image.

I have many fond memories of Azarr. I asked him lots of stupid questions. He answered them all and gave me great advise.

I will miss him a lot.

Note.

The Horizon Indoor will have a new award this year. Most Unique Airplane Award, This is in memory of Azarr.

Actually I think it will be The Azarr Most Unique Airplane Award, for the most unique airplane, which Azarr always seemed to have.
He brought some different airplanes each and every year. He was a vendor at the event for 6 years or so.

Today his Grand Daughter posted on Facebook and had an Image of Azarr and a folded American Flag. Azarr was an Air Force Veteran.

Way too many people will miss him bunches. Me included.
