I just got my FLIR One for the iPhone. This is going to be very useful for seeing how the baffles work, where the air is exiting, servo temps while flying and probably a bunch of things I have not thought of yet. It has a spot temp indicator to give you the actual temp (in C or F), and yes, you can change the emissivity settings for shiny metal, or black plastic or whatever. It overlays the normal camera over the thermal image and there is a free app called FLIR ONE paint that allows you to edit out the thermal image in the picture if you wish. It also does movies at 8 FPS as well. Here is my laptop.

I've looked at that system before and tempted myself... The only thing that stopped me was the price! Although compared to dedicated thermal imaging units it's not that pricey.

Compared to dedicated FLIR systems, $250 is nothing! Some of them cost $20K!

And yes, you can pick off the temp at any point you want.
