Here's a slightly bizarre one. Every Extra EXP I have seen has had the top of the rudder covered in the same color as the plane, either red or blue. My newest red Extra EXP has a white top on the rudder! I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be that way, but it's different, and I've got a one in a million!
I took this plane out today just go get some time on it and loosen everything up. I think a good plane goes through a breaking-in process. The ball links loosen up, hinges loosen up, etc, and I even think that the wood gets flexed and all. I really believe that you have to break them in a little.
This one, though, is already really damm good. It was a perfect, short sleeve kind of day with zero wind and I was the only one at the field. I ran pack after pack through this plane and each time I was getting more and more confident. Since this is my #2 Extra, I'll be in really good shape when I eventually retire or kill my blue #1.
