Sport Racing plane for 3 cylinder Kolm engine.

I used the last stash of servo wire tubes that a bought at the Toledo show many years ago. Just bought 5/8" rocket bodies for the same use, only 18" long though.

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I assume you brushed the first coat? I have had better results just spraying from the beginning. The instruction for the Stits product are for a full scale planes where the fabric is almost twice as thick as the light weight fabric we use so you can brush the first coat because it will soak up...

You can clean the drops with MEK, just say away from the edges. I would spray the Polybrush. Be careful with the heat, 350F can warp the wings and fuselage.

Why is it soft? Lack of of formers or to thin? Think I would use Gorilla glue, possibly a coat of lightweight filler on the inside. After sanding harden the filler with thin CA.

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

The resin arrived and completed the top section of the cowl, the boot is just about ready for tooling coat. The paint was damaged removing the mold from the plug so a little repair work was necessary on the plug. It's all good now waiting for the PVA to dry. A little cold in the Burgh today.

Sport Racing plane for 3 cylinder Kolm engine.

I found the 3M large hole filler works great. I used the strip planking method when I rebuilt the RC Guys Piper Cherokee

Sport Racing plane for 3 cylinder Kolm engine.

I use #20 T pins purchased from Amazon by the 1/2 pound, also have larger #28 size for heavy work, these are the the same as the Sig T pins sold. The FAI pins are supposed to be the cat's behind but never used them. I use dressmaker pins from Walmart with a ball tip but about half of the balls...

Looks like it saved some work, the fin to the fuselage transition is always a pain.

    Electronic Carburetor/Roto 85 FS Install

With the carb back on and the throttle servo reset started and ran the engine, lowest possible idle when leaned out was about 1600 rpm, this engine would tick over at just over 1000 rpm with the WT 962 carb installed. When I look at the throttle disc you find the small slot where the idle jet is...

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Have the parting boards removed and ready to start the upper half of the cowl. No rush only sufficient resin for the tooling coats. More on the way sometime next week. The bottom lay up was 2 tooling coats, 1 layer 1 1/2 ounce cloth, 4 layers of 4 ounce cloth, 1 layer of 40 ounce cloth, that...

    Electronic Carburetor/Roto 85 FS Install

Had a little extra time today before going to a late lunch with old friends. Decided to see see if the engine would run. The solenoid is normally open so without power its wide open. Flipped the engine over at high trim with the controller off, no choke, after 15 flips or so it started, shut...

    Boost Tabs

Boost tabs work, there's no question about it. Back when I stated flying giant scale, I used Futaba S148 servos, 48 in-oz of torque, they worked, there was no 3D, surfaces were much smaller than today. Had I known about boost tabs then I would have used them. Today on the same size aileron I...
