Here's a shot of the ailerons in the fixture I made for painting, supported by the hinges and can rotate 180 degrees for top and bottom.

Put two coats of Ekoprime on the wings today and ran out of primer. I had bought 1 quart of primer and discovered it was not enough to do the wing. I ordered another quart that should finish the plane. The primer really brings out the flaws. Need to sand the imperfections with 320 open cut...

I'm finishing up the right aileron then Ekoprime filler. Possibly get the primer on on Thursday if all goes well, just might put the yellow to the wings over the weekend. I have the wings mounted in a fixture that I built sometime ago to paint a BUSA Super Cub. Holds both wings and allows the...

I got the right wing just about complete. The fabric weave get filled with Ecobond thinned with 25% water. After the Ecobond fill coat dries, the fabric sounds much like Monokote over the open bays, kind of a tinny sound. I put 13 inspection ring on each wing. I tried to use photos to...

600 In Oz servo with a 4" double arm will result in less than 20 pounds tension. You have plenty of safety factor.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

The plans show a 120 CC engine. Plans call for 80 to 120. The plan shows the cowl 12 1/2" wide, the top view half section shows a 120cc (Assumed to be a DA?) left jug with 1/4" clearance between the cowl and spark plug cap. This is a three piece wing with box spar joiners.

Started covering the right wing tonight just in time for the RNC convention! It took a while to finish tape the left aileron because the hinge leafs were replaced. I hit both of them while finish sanding and put flat spots on the knuckles. Look better now. Also while surfing the Steward web...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Fibertechnmore does not offer the items however National Balsa does. The canopy is $89 and cowl/pant set is $125. Kind of odd since Fibertech does offer so many of Wendal's designs. Need to decide what engine to use. Been flying my 38% Christen Eagle with an old ZDZ 80RV and JMB can, once...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

While postman didn't bring it, I scored a Hosteller 30% Chipmunk kit yesterday for $100.00. This is a complete kit that includes the sticks and sheeting, $425 cost. I already have the plans that I purchased at Toledo several years ago. Just might be the next build? I need the cowl, pants...

The problem areas are where several layers overlap. Consider the trailing edge, two light coats onto the edge, attach the bottom fabric, another coat of Ecobond, attach the top fabric, another light coat of Ecobond and the perimeter tape. The Ecobond works much like Stits after the Poly Brush...

Made it back from the beach yesterday, between last night and this afternoon when out flying and finished the top of the left wing. All finish tapes are installed. Started covering the aileron. No photos of the wing since it looks the same as the bottom! I worked outside today in the...
