    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

There's a mill near me that looks like a really good deal. I just don't have any place to put something like that. He want's 1500.00 or best offer.

Yea, I was thinking that. The main purpose is for precision drilling and no more guestimations! I imagine once I'm able to pick up a bench top mill, this one will end up in my kid's garage.

    Mini lathe (and mill) discussion.

Had to do a little cleaning, filing, and paint removal. I also had to remove a lip on each of the threaded rods so the handles would go on. The casting is a little rough, as others have said, but it works good.

Another piece of the puzzle showed up today. An X - Y table for my drill press, and it is heavy. I've been wanting to add one for a while now for precision drilling. Do you think I can do light milling with it??

Yea, it has limited options on it, but I figured it would be a good entry for me. Kind of wish I would have bought one with a gear selector and threader feed now. I'm looking at littlemachineshop.com for optional add on parts for this one. Maybe even a standard lead screw? I'm going to have to...

Doing quite the upgrade Tony! I also haven't made any progress on my Cub, due to distraction! I've added an RPM kit, a chip plate, and a QCTP to the lathe. I've been learning a lot as well. This mini lathe seems to like about 1000 rpm on aluminum. My first project was a new shorter spindle...

I'm probably going to end up with the re-saw fence at some point. Here's the Shop Fox version that you can probably make work...

Resurrection U Can Do 60 Repair

Finished product. I have not yet glued it in because I'm still debating on whether or not to do the elevators at this point.

Built a hinge drill guide for drilling the hinges in. I've learned the hard way not to try and freehand it.

I'm going to use the Robart hinges. I ended up putting them in the elevators after a couple tries with the others and they are still holding up. I like to use Gorilla Glue on them as well.

Resurrection U Can Do 60 Repair

Fit turned out good. I just have to hinge and final sand before I get some covering on them and glue the fin in. Down the road, I'm planning on doing a full scratch build on a UCD 60.
