The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Had a little time to work on the Storch this evening. Got the receiver installed, centered my servos and made up all the linkage. Almost ready for some paint!

    What beer ya drinking tonight?

Had a new one today. New Belgium Side Trip Belgian style ale. Ore at least I thought it was going to be a new one. Taste exactly like their Tripple. That's not a bad thing cause their Tripple is a great beer. I just think they changed the label.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Some people have had problems with the foam crushing around the wing saddle. My method to address this was to split a paint stick long ways. Then I drilled a couple holes in each one so I could slide them over the rubber band pins. Then glued them on. I also ditched the bamboo skewers and...

Once that was done I got back to work on the Flite Test Storch. Here you can see the carbon fiber reinforcements I added to the power pod. This should greatly improve the life and durability of the pod. Also added some carbon on the inside of the fuse.

Busy day around the house and shop. Weather was warm today but too windy to fly. So the first thing I did was to finish up the cold frame I started last week. It hinges open. And once it warms up for good this season all I have to do is knock out the hinge pins and the whole thing will lift off.

    3D Hinges

Yup one side at a time. Let them dry. Then do the other side. At least that's the way I do it.

    3D Hinges

Yup flat hinges work well. That's some solid advice from @Surfer Dude and @ThePledge . I also like to pin the inner most and outer most hinge on each surface. Just push a T-pin through each one and cut it off flush on each side. Makes for an uber strong setup. Can't do that with Robarts.
