Nice piece of subterfuge:D So do you have the build spec all worked out?

    3DHobbyShop 51" AJ Slick

That would much depend on what a good job you make of crashing it;)

Can anyone recommend an airframe for an O.S. FS-70 Surpass?

It should spin a 13" prop at about 10,000-11,000RPM if you use quite high nitro fuel (expensive!). I'm guessing about 7-8lb of thrust, it's not really ideal for a 3D plane because the prop is a bit small, two stroke gas engines tend to rev slower but have more torque to spin bigger props. The...

    3DHobbyShop 51" AJ Slick

I've been picking away at putting together my slick in-between other non-Rc commitments. Here's the spec Motor : Headsup Firepower 46 sport (720kv) Prop: Xoar 15x7 ESC: ZTW 85A BEC: Castle 10A (6v) Battery: Gens Ace 4s 2200mAh 30c Servos: Solar D658 x 4 Putting it together took a little longer...

    Knife Edge tips.

Just to re-iterate what NJ said.. Program KE mixes for both rudder to elevator and rudder to aileron. Some planes don't need both but I've yet to find a model that doesn't benefit from at least one KE mix. The mixes may well be slightly different in left KE compared to right KE. It takes time to...

    Help! My hovering sucks.. help!

Thanks Joe, that actually helps me a lot. I see guys (in videos) hovering effortlessly, their planes almost appear to be locked into a stable hover, and wonder why I seem to have to fight so hard. 'The wind' is most likely part of the answer, it's very rarely calm here. the other part of the...

    Help! My hovering sucks.. help!

As the title says; my hovering sucks. I see guys who make it look totally effortless, their control surfaces hardly move, I'm fighting my models like they are wild animals.. it's frustrating:( Other than 'pratice practice practice'.. do you have any tips? Steve

    EF 48" Laser EXP

I've got no hesitation in recommending the Motrolfly. The Torque is also a fine motor and is in no way lacking power but cant quite compete with the punch of the Motrolfly spinning a larger prop. I'm currently running a 13x7 Xoar on my DM-2820 750kv which gives excellent performance without...

    EF 48" Laser EXP

If it were me i'd probably give the Turnigy servos a shot, they have more torque and have the advantage of being digital when compared to the HS-65MG's, most of all you already have them!... If buying new then the genuine Savox SH-0257 and/or SH-0255 would be my choice over the Hitecs (I own...

NJ, That's great, you will just love the Laser. So do you have the hardware spec sorted out? Steve

    The 3DRCForums -Discuss Anything Thread-

RCG do seem to have a habit of over-reaction when it comes to bans and warnings. If the links were removed I cant see what the big deal is? References and even direct links to other RC websites often appear in threads on RCG (I've done it myself many times) and no action is usually taken. You...

Discussion How to Land a 3D airplane

Just a small comment... You can fly a stabilized approach with no throttle too, you just need to descend on a steeper glide slope in order to maintain constant airspeed. This is in fact required if you fly from a small field where you have the likes of trees to get over on the landing approach...

    Sweet Skills with KE Spin

Hope you have a ball! BTW.. do be a bit carefull doing sustained KE spins at WOT, it's very hard on motors and motor boxes due the the huge gyroscopic forces generated by the fast spinning prop. I've snapped two motors clean in half doing WOT KE spins and a couple of others were damaged due to...

Official Precision Aerobatics Ultimate AMR Thread

Regarding the battery access... It's not really the top wing that is the main problem. It's the braces across the top of the formers that run directly over the battery leaving only a few mm clearance. The battery needs to be slid in under the cross braces meaning you cant use velcro. The fix is...

    Sweet Skills with KE Spin

Yeah, it's enough but speaking as someone very much at the lower end of the 3D skill range I find that when entering from a hammer head/stall turn even more elevator makes entry more consistent. On all my models I have two 3D rates on the elevator, normal is about 50 deg, 'insane elevator' rate...

Official Precision Aerobatics Ultimate AMR Thread

It's a bit quiet over here in the PA forum so I thought I'd start a thread on the Ultimate AMR. I've had my AMR for nearly two years now it's a quirky little bipe which you will love or hate. Yeah like all bipes it's got some coupling issues and has a few little build details like impossible...

    Sweet Skills with KE Spin

Try less rudder, in fact all my planes KE spin fastest with little or no rudder. Also it helps to have lots of elevator travel, the more the better.
