71" AJ Slick Building, Flying, and Questions

I forgot to mention... with the 20x8 on the dle I had unending vertical snaps yesterday. It has plenty of power... just not as much as I was used to with the PTE 36.

I'm guessing I have close to a gallon through mine... it is changing a lot right now... in a good way... I think it is almost there :D

3DHS --FLY LOW-- Always OFF TOPIC

I love the DLE 35ra on my 70" slick. Just thought I'd say that in case anyone is being tempted by that motor right now :D I got mine for $320 shipped from valley view RC. Gary let me know about their $30 off discount code that I believe has been continued for another month.

71" AJ Slick Building, Flying, and Questions

I am on Spring Break so I spent half the day out at the field today. Man what a beautiful day it was. Sun shine and low breezes. I doubt there was even a thermal gust that came through over 7 or 8 mph and rarely stayed more than 30 seconds or so. I got out there at around 1:00 pm. I flew the 51...

    3DHS Planes Picture Thread

The first thing to understand about Gary is that he is on a personal mission to try every airframe in production ;) I don't know anyone that goes through as many planes without crashing most of them.

    The Rolling Harrier

Ok so it is a matter of practicing in a straight line and learning to react to the attitudes the plane is in. You are going to have to deliberately wait longer for each input. You know your problem is being early and knowing is half the battle... now its just practice :) By the way if you are...

    The Rolling Harrier

Understanding the chart is great, but is not a prerequisite to learning rollers. It is just one way of illustrating the timing. The chart helps the super analytical types that want to study a lot. At the end of the day rollers are something you really learn by doing them and the amount of...

3DHS New Products and General Plane Info/Help for Fanatics

Fellas I'm looking for some input. I have a new DLE 35 that I have been really liking. I switched props today from a xoar 19x8 (7500 rpms peak) to a protek 20x8. I took it out to the field and started it up. I noticed immediately that there was a bit of an increase in vibration, but it...

The fuel does slosh around a lot. Gas tanks for these planes have a metal clunk that runs close to the back of the tank. There are a few different styles but the concept is that as the fuel sloshes around the clunk stays in it and continues to allow it to suck fuel. With gasoline the bubbles...

    The Rolling Harrier

A circle is what you should be attempting to begin with. Rolling in a straight line is more difficult and should be conquered after you can successfully complete circles. Did you watch the video by chance? *edit* I see that you did ;) If you have realflight 6.5 I'd love to jump online with...

Plenty of Pepsi bottles in that size. The only reason people love fiji bottles so much is because they are square. You could deal with round pretty easily me-thinks if 20 oz is really important to you.

3DHS --FLY LOW-- Always OFF TOPIC

Here's what I would do... take the 16 oz tank out of your 71 slick and put it in the 89. Then buy an 8 oz fourtitude for the 71 and make a 500ml fiji bottle tank for the new bird. Then you will get the experience of all three and save a few bucks :D

I never got the plane in the air. The wind was whipping up above 20 mph. I didn't bring my charger and my flight pack was hitting the low voltage alarm. I did burn some dino carcass though ;)

Cool deal. Another factor is altitude as well. The air be thinner here I'm thinking. I'm guessing the 35 has maybe 10% more power. Did you start with the bowman ring to begin with? At 2 hours I would think it is close to being broken in if it isn't done yet. These motors just sip the gas...

Just for comparison sake... do you have any idea what your static rpms are with the 18x8 on the 30? I'm getting about 7500 static on a xoar 19x8 on the 35.

I'm loving the DLE 35ra so far. I have two and a half tanks through it now. It has an amazingly stable idle that locks right in when you chop the throttle.
