The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Been working on this plane since 2004. I'm painting with latex. I painted the fuselage about 4 years ago and the base white pulled off with the trim masking tape. Sanded the latex down with 80 grit today and put on two coats of Zinsser primer. Will hopefully get the flat black sprayed on the...

Don't you hate covering when the hinges are glued in? Looks like there are plenty installed as well!

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I put three flights on it today, flies just as bad as I remember. I think it would fly better with a longer tail moment. I guess I need to get use to it again. Been flying the Piper Cherokee for the past three seasons, not a lot of excitement with it.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Decided to get out my 14 year old Christen Eagle, ignition batteries were bad. Rather than put a new pack in decided to go the AeroTech IBEC route. This resulted in a new receiver and XPS x10 expander board. The surface servos are Hitec 5945's with a 5955 on the rudder. The plane was built...

Scale 20cc Edge 540 Profile “The Glitter”

I think the end use would determine to need. If one were making wing skins for a foam core wing then I feel planing would be a good choice, glue all the planed sides down and used the unplaned side for gluing. If cutting slabs 3/8" to make sticks, probably not as important.

6th Annual Summer Solstice Fun Fly - Indiana Flyers Club, Indiana, PA

We sure did and not a single incident. The following day I went to another club field, there were a hand full of flyers there, three planes went it in a matter of four hours. A ducted fan foam jet went in and put a 30 degree bend in the 5000 ma lipo, didn't catch fire though, apparently the...

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Here's a photo of a Top Flite Staggerwing I did a few years ago. Painted flat black, the push rod tubes were 1/8" aluminum tube, and the spark plug wires were 18 gauge silicon insulated wire. Looked real nice.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Reviewed the service manual and found that one 10-24 fillister head screw holds the cap in place. Designed a mount similar to the full scale. Found two 2-56 fillister head screws in the 2-56 screw drawer, I'm sure these came from a Rocket City ball link. I really do miss the Rocket City line...
