Your Thoughts on An Electric System for a 73" SU-26

Are you reassuring yourself? :) No joke, I just cooked a CC BEC pro a hour ago when I reversed polarity on the plugs I attached to the ESC battery wires. LOUD pop, small puff of smoke, I thought I had another bad product, and then I looked at the colors. My mistake :( Ordered a ZTW 12A BEC...

Your Thoughts on An Electric System for a 73" SU-26

Hate to ask, or imply a mistake, but is there a chance you attempted to plug in backwards? This doesn't sound like a ZTW type of failure, it sounds like a reversed power situation. However anything can fail, ZTW included.

    Aerobeez 30cc 71" Extra 330SC

Depends on if you might pair up some big 6s5000 packs in the future someday and run a 50cc electric. If not, the cost of 1 6s5000 and 2 4s4000 packs is similar, and I like the performance of an 8s setup a little better.

The setup in the 71 is the Motrofly 4330 and a ZTW ESC. IMHO that combo can't really be beat. Are you going 6s or 8s?

Is your observation of the throttle response based on flight or ground testing?

What really gives a plane that "locked in" feel??

Moving the CG a little more forward might help some, but the 72" extra doesn't have long tail moment compared to some other extras I've flown, and the usually the longer the tail, the more stable. Other things are servos that have a low dead band, as the servos will work really hard to stay...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

The biggest benefit is that since the motor is always spinning, your much less likely to loose sync as 3dnater said. I do this on all my electrics as well. On an Airboss ESC it's almost necessary. The fringe benefit is not accidentally bumping to throttle when you put your radio down to turn off...

You're calibrating the ESC to your radio's throttle channel. This maximizes the throttle response.

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

DEFINITELY Leave the ESC on auto timing. I personally like 20% startup strength a little better. Go into the transmitter and max your endpoints on your throttle (150%) Take out any subtrim on the throttle channel. Move your throttle to high position. Plug in the ESC. After two beeps move...
