Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Got the last coat of primer on the cowl today, no pin holes or other flaws, ready for final block sand before applying the Ekopoxy water based primer. Before switching to the water based paints I sprayed the cooling baffle and the inside of the cowl ahead of the cooling baffle with flat black...

3D Vertigo build, any interest in a build?

I see the cheeks on thecowl, understand why it would be difficult to cover with monokote. Looking good.

The paint is water based so no solvents fumes to worry about. The exhaust fan that I use was salvaged from a overhead furnace from by brothers auto repair shop, believe it is 1/3 hp, it moves a lot of air, previously used a box fan. It is mounted on a piece of plywood that is the same size as...

But the second coat on the cowl an windshield seal strip, just one light coat, more pin holes and defects, the mold parting line is always a PIA. More filler, will block sand and spray some more tomorrow, might be last coat? If so will block sand with 320 to prepare for the Ekopoxy coat...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

30% 120" span. I think I read somewhere that G&L Hobbies from your neck of the woods was making them for national Balsa. Always wanted their Nosen Cessna 310 glass fuselage and parts, maybe some day.

I had received the quote from SACMidwest.com last week for the Champ dash, I sent them a dash template and the attached photo from the 3 view I'm working from along with the fuel level gauge mount that mounts to the top of the dash. Received the completed dash today in the mail. Even included...

Didn't see the kit offered on their website, what is the span? Might be a good candidate for that 100 inline?

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

Where I'm going with this is do yourself a favor and take a wing to the auto body supply store and have them color match a base coat clear coat paint. I use Omni brand, it is PPG lower cost brand, works great a RC airplane, a pint might be $30-$40 bucks for the base color. Attached are two...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

My phone said 18 f this morning, was too cold to go out and check if it was right. Weather improving this week. Might dust some primer on the cowl and start that process, there's quite a bit of massaging done to it so I expect two or three rounds of primer and sanding. This will be done with...

Spent the better part of the day making fixtures to hold the small parts for painting. Getting warmer north of the Mason Dixon line, 60's next week! Just might get some painting done. Still need to make fixtures for the rudder and cowl.

Scale 20cc DHC-2 "Beaver" Kit Build from Moustache Model Works

Sky blue, beautiful color. I've read that Monokote is going away, sad day. In my opinion a superior product to Ultrakote. Will be using Hobby King covering film in the future.

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

What part are you making for the cabin? You could end milling the part rather than face milling to improve the finish or milling in the opposite direction. I'm guessing you were climb milling where tool pulls the work into it.

"Don't be a fool, protect your tool" use a sock or any other old tee shirt. Years ago there was a fellow that sold home made iron socks out of a back pack at Toledo, that was his motto, $1 each.

Scale 1/3 Scale Extra 330L Build.

Noticed the decimal equivalent chart on your desk. Funny thing I just downloaded this file and had it printed and laminated at Staples two weeks ago, have it hanging above the lathe, printed on legal size paper so it is easy to read. Every time I needed to drill and tap something I had to get...
