The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Worked on my 91" Slick last night some more. Got one elevator half ready for flight, now I just need to finish the rest of the airplane now :oblong::cool:

    Xpress does a BANSHEE build...

Got some more time in the shop last night and got the right wing panel all hinged up, still have to seal it though. Also managed to get one elevator half ready to go. I get the control horns test fitted in place prior to gluing them to ensure they center up over the hinge line properly. I...

AEROWORKS - New Engine Line up!

Most use normal standoffs and cut a large enough hole in the firewall to fit the carb through. The carb being inside of the fuse actually sucks in a lot more stable air pressure and helps engine performance. Nobody has seemed to mention anything about a weakened firewall.

    Aerobeez "BANSHEE" 91" Slick build

Some more forward progress tonight. First up, I got the right wing panel/aileron all hinged up. I will get it sealed tomorrow. For the control horns, you always want to make sure you cut away the covering from below this little spreader plate. I cut out the slots for the control horns, then dry...

AEROWORKS - New Engine Line up!

I would like to, but space is a question. Fitting a 25%, a 30%, 2 35%, and a few small parkflyers has its own challenges, not sure of a 40%+ would fit!!

AEROWORKS - New Engine Line up!

The 180 is a BEAST of an engine. It'll yank a 40lb airplane around like a rag doll, if I ever go 40% there will be no other engine choice for that airplane. Joe Mitchell is also a super nice guy and is always willing to help out with any problems you have.

My guess is he didn't buy into the Eco Boost hype. I've got a few buddies with Eco Boost F150's, fuel economy is similar to the 5.4L. The only advantage I can see to the Eco Boost is if you're pulling a trailer at altitude, the turbos can just spool faster to make more power when the air gets...

    Aerobeez 40% extra prototype!?!?!

Negative! Biggest airplane I've flown! Rest assured, if you can fly a 30% or 35%, this airplane is no different, just bigger and hurts the wallet a little more if you crash ;)

    Aerobeez 40% extra prototype!?!?!

Yes, as I said in my first post I got to fly it for a few minutes ;) It tracked straight as an arrow, no coupling I could find. Santi had it setup for IMAC when I gave it a try so I couldn't fly much 3D with it, but it was super stable in any attitude I put it in from high alpha in any...

    Aerobeez 40% extra prototype!?!?!

12 servos for the control surfaces, 3 on each aileron, 2 on each elevator, and one on the rudder Bipenut I think Nick definitely designed the graphics for it, that has his name all over it ;)

    Aerobeez 40% extra prototype!?!?!

It's actually more like a 45% sized airplane. It's stupid light, flies like it's on rails, zero coupling everywhere, easy to hover. Santi has a DA-200 on the nose on cans (the thing is UBER smooth!!!) with Hitec 7980's all around with the JR X-Bus system onboard. Very light flying airplane even...

Not with a 5.2L. The wind noise just gets unbearable, especially with the windshield lightbar :veryshocked::banana:

    Xpress does a BANSHEE build...

Last night I managed to get the left wing all done up. Aileron hinged and sealed up, ready for the control horn and a servo to go into it. Somehow I managed to get a nice slice in the top of the wing root that cut through the covering, not sure what could have done that  For those...

    Aerobeez "BANSHEE" 91" Slick build

Okay, finally got some time to get down into the shop tonight. Only had enough time to get one aileron hinged and sealed up but progress is progress. Also have some more SWB and Fromeco bling sitting on the bench, ready for install. Hoping to get the other wing finished up tomorrow, then at...
