Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

Using Compufoil and a photo provided by Appowner to create the template for the rear former. Also created a plot for the wing root in Compufoil. On the previous build the wing was built straight and then stub ribs were added to the outside of the straight wing platform to form the extended...

    Scale BUSA Super Cub

I ordered paint masks for the PIPER Logo and N numbers from AeroGraphics located in Loveland CO. They do full scale work but can resize the logos for model use. Highly recommended if you looking for scale logos. Also ordered an exterior kit for the other small details. I used their logos on...

    Scale BUSA Super Cub

Using three artist drawings and one photo drew the graphics on the fuselage side view drawing. I will use this to make templates for laying out the fuselage. I'm using the N number from a photo I found at the Piper museum. For the longer curves I used a piece of 1/4" square spruce nailed down...

    Scale BUSA Super Cub

Put the plane on the scales with everything installed. 35 1/2 pounds. Once the fuselage is painted looking at 39 to 40 pounds. Currently the CG is about right so it will be tail heavy once painted. Need to move some thongs around. Looked around the net and found several builds ranging 33 to...

The boot cowl section is 5 pieces, one on the bottom, two on each side that over lap on top since the front support wires meet at the center of the plane. The full scale is split at the top as well. The Cub may be different since there is inverted from the Super Cub.

Running out of parts. Everything is on the fuselage, only parts left are the wing struts. Missing a knob for rear throttle quadrant.

Got the throttle and choke linkage complete, both are pull on, spring off. Repurposed the cooling duct from the Cherokee for this install. I sent a message off to Falcon Props asking about their 3" spinner and 25" CF prop, no rely yet. Swinging a 26 x10 on the Champ, I plan to use a 25X9 here.

Steven, Finally put the tap guide to work. Works great! Thank you again. Purchased 12L14 3/16" carbon steel hex bar from McMaster Carr. The 12L14 material drills, turns, mills and taps like butter. Took a few hours but I like the results. There are about 10 operations in each piece and I...

The tail position light is a 8 mm 1/2 watt LED. I have the lights on a logic switch that comes true when the switch SD is up and the ignition is on.

Scale 112” - Taylorcraft by HeyLuc & Snoopy.

How did you get from the photo on post #82 to the laid up cowl? The shape looks different? Epoxy or polyester resin used? Wondering about the blue tint.

More details. The tail wires are 3/32" SS TIG wire threaded for 2-56 threads, a short piece of 1/8 tube, and 2 2-56 nuts. A plain nut is inside the clevis and scale brass nut on the end of the tube in an attempt to simulate the first photo. I might order some hex stock to make bigger hex nuts...
