    Xpress does a BANSHEE build...

A video of today's shenanigans. The wind was cranking probably 15-20 gusts and a constant 10 right down the runway, not always the most fun to fly in.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

Yup yup, it was windy windy windy today!! Slick took it like a champ, though the gusts on the deck made it interesting :oblong:

    Assembly: EF 110" Yak-54 V2

I think I'll always do the hinge gaps now, though mine don't look nearly as clean as yours :dancing-chicken:

    Assembly: EF 110" Yak-54 V2

Joe you shouldn't need 3 servos on each aileron, they're not big enough to mandate. 2 9380's should actually be overkill which is perfect, I'm using 2 7955's on each aileron on my oversized aileron 107" Yak and they don't have any problem pushing those ailerons out to full with HV power on the...

The I'm NOT going out flying thread.

Me, the girlfriend, and my parents went out on the lake yesterday to try and escape the heat for Fathers day, though I think it was still over 100* outside. It was a relaxing afternoon nontheless :too-cool:

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I tried to get some shop time in last night but it was so hot out that all I did was play music and chill inside of there to keep cool (it's always around 75* in there)! What a way to start out summer, today's high will probably be in the 110* range... :too-cool::oblong: (and yes I'm perfectly...

Flew my little Slick today, finally got to try out the new prop. Feels solid

No pictures, but I did get to work on tidying up my shop last night. Few more nights of work down there and I think it should be back up to snuff :)

    The Rolling Harrier

The rhythm has worked for me for years so yes it's a good way to start to learn how to do it. But when you're letting a set of parameters control your airplane, there's only so much you will be able to do before other outside elements can mess with it. Eventually you'll learn how to modify your...

    The Rolling Harrier

As Kyle Woyshnis once told me... Don't get into a rhythm, just correct the airplane as it rolls around. That was the hardest part for me is figuring out how to break my rhythm and just actively correct the airplane as it rolls around on the deck. When you figure this out, the airplane looks so...

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

That's easy. You wrap them all up in a nice sheet of bubble wrap, stick them in a nice sturdy cardboard box, and mail them to @Xpress to let him deal with it... :epic:

Triple Tree Aerodrome, AOPA Mag Article

It is definitely a world class facility. I look forward to attending again in the future.

Where should build and assembly threads be? POLL, please vote!

I say create new sub forums. Make a 3D section where all of the content about 3D flying goes, then an IMAC section for IMACers, then scale for the scale dudes, jets, so on and so forth. It's easier if you have a dedicated forum to keep the specific content in that forum.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

My Yak is power hungry with them huge ailerons :mario-banana: My 91" Slick on the other hand I can probably manage 35+ flights on one set of 1900 packs without recharging :brian-banana:
  15. Xpress

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

The packs just aren't holding up anymore, they probably have 4-500 cycles on them by now. After 2 flights with me behind the sticks, they're hitting almost 6.0v under load. I have some fresh new Pulse 5000 packs coming in the main to replace the Fromeco's.

The I'm going out flying thread 2016

2 flights is about all I can manage to get out of the Fromeco 5200 packs on my 107" Yak now before they sag down to the 6.0v range. Too low for me to keep flying, there's always tomorrow. Sealing the elevator hinge gaps made the pitch SO much more responsive. I was not expecting it to spin as...

Share your ideas for safe pre-flight and flying

My routine involves always charging packs up the night before and giving the fuselage a brief once over. They sit inside the shop all week after the previous weekends flying so the theory is that nothing should have changed from the last post flight inspection, but we all know that theories are...

Also just ordered up some new Pulse 2s 5000 Rx packs for the Yak since the Fromeco's are getting a bit dated.
