    Ordered my Su-26

I got my hatches roughed out today. Time for some finish work before my Monocote gets here. Not too tough to do and much stronger than the original.

    Ordered my Su-26

I might add even though I could select the wood myself. I couldn't build my SU-26 as good as they did in the factory. Not to mention the covering.

I'm good. If you require perfection you are better off building it yourself. I remember that thread over on the other site.:focus:

    Ordered my Su-26

I guess I'm a little late to the party. I just wanted a good light 50cc size airframe. And not an Extra or an Edge. I think this Sukhoi still fills the bill.

I had quality control issues similarly with mine. In fact my plane only had tri-stock on one side of the bottom of the gear plate. I expressed my issues to Herve privately and he responded appropriately. Based upon the way the plane flies it's a keeper. We just have to deal with the issues.

    Ordered my Su-26

Thanks to the weather out here I've got the time. I'm trying to make the hatches the way you suggested. The laminated ply is drying up now. I agree based on the way this plane flies it makes sense to overlook the design flaw. This fix ought to work well. I was hoping to see some aluminum angle...

    Ordered my Su-26

Well the gear is on! At least for tonight. Waiting for some balsarite to dry before one last sanding and re-covering. I still need to figure out how to cover the holes. Either hatches or just covering. The wind out here decided to act like it's March for the next week so I'm in no hurry. Tom...

We didn't think it was that bad of a bounce. I don't like the look of the plywood they used. It almost looks like the stuff they packed the plane in for shipping. The aircraft ply I used will be much stronger and i wanted to move the cg forward anyway.

Fixing the landing gear in my PAU SU-26. Thanks to some help from @Tseres!

Yea I get it I just noticed in one of your photos you worked that ply back in. My modelling precision isn't as good as yours but t his is going good so far.

I assume you cut the ply sides of the tunnel out right? Like this?

OK I'm in the process of opening up the tunnel

    Ordered my Su-26

Thanks! I like the idea. I've been sitting here all afternoon scratching my head how to make this stronger. It looked weak to me during my initial assembly. :fist_pump:I was thinking a lamination of carbon fiber as well. It's just kind of hard hard to get into the top of the gear plate. I'm not...

    Ordered my Su-26

I flew the SU-26 again today. Felt so comfortable I actually flew the 2015 Basic sequence once! Decided that was enough so I set up an approach to land and let the engine cool off. I managed a bounce from about 2 feet up and the right landing gear tore out. The plywood plate just disintegrated...
