I also got a good start on the fuse. I cut my middle ply doublers out like my inner ones. My scale battery is dead so I didn't get a chance to weigh what was removed but I would guess about 2ozs. I forgot to take a few pictures as I went along but here's where it is at.

Stab was built same way. I moved hinge line forward and haven't decided exactly how I'm going to build my elevators yet around the area where they meet the fuse. Still thinking on that one.

Vertical stab and rudder built. Plans call for 3/8 sheet stock. I went built up. Stab is 1/4" sheeted with 1/16. Rudder was slightly enlarged.

    Power boards/expanders really needed?

OK so I got myself some Spektrum power safe receivers. For my planes that don't have HV servos I think TDRC A123 batts are the way to go? For the planes that have HV servos I'm gonna have to look into the batteries you mentioned. Thanks again for the input I did take it seriously!

Hopefully that takes care of the hesitation in the throttle when going inverted.

And that brings you up-to-date with the build so far. I gotta say I really enjoy the scratch building and if anyone has any questions or suggestions I welcome them. You may also notice most of my cut parts there is 3 sets of parts cut. My buddy #Jag has a "kit" as well as my other buddy Mo...

Once the wing was framed it was on to building the rons. The plans call for strip rons that are I think 1.5" in cord. I made my own rons using the TLAR method and the wing plan as a guide. These are 3 3/4" not including the 3/4" tri stock I used for the leading edge. I also moved the servo...

You may notice the black dog in some of my posts. That' my 115lb Rottie puppy Tough! Unfortunately he loves to eat Balsa wood but then throws in back up. I can tell you the only thing that gets you out of bed quicker than a suspected intruder is the sounds of a dog about to yak on the carpet....

Here you can see wing rough framed with sheeting and shear webs etc all installed. I have not added the servo mounts yet as I am moving them out a little to center then in the ailerons.

So construction began with the wing. The plans called for Spruce Spars. I didn't have spruce nor did I want to buy any so I used hard balsa, and added carbon tow to the outside, and a very short piece of scrap I had to the inside center section. The original wing span is 81" or so which I...

So now that we have basic kit cut it's time to do some mods. I originally cut the center of the ribs out. That was worth 1.5ozs over the solid ribs. Cutting these pieces out yielded 4.1ozs saved total. I may also cut out the full size doubler as well but haven't yet.

So I'm sure your asking, what does he cut this stuff with?? Mostly the band saw. I LOVE the band saw , but I also use the scroll saw where I need too as well. I also use a few different sanders, but mostly the belt sander as seen under some parts and for inside radiuses I love the spindle...

First step for me is to make copies of the cut parts from the plans. This isn't too bad of a task with the copier at work (shh don't tell the big wigs)

Years ago I had a Super Hots my flying mentor helped me cut and build when I first started flying. I flew it with an old OS 61FP and it was a great plane for a recent graduate from the trainer and I absolutely wore it out. (Circa 1998/1999) I haven't flown glow in years and the ole Super Hots...
