Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

With my infrequent flying and our fairly tight field is in a mountainous (and trees) area my landing skills struggle. I am developing a reputation for going through props regularly. I primarily fly my 120cc Yak so 28x10 props are $100+……. Sunday was pretty slow so the team president worked...

    What beer ya drinking tonight?

It’s that time of the year, miserable cold weather around the corner. A wonderful 75+ degrees for the last day at our neighborhood pool.

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Between intermittent rain I flew more today than I have in months. Nice breeze, summer heat is gone and I get enough football out of my system on Saturdays to just enjoy the day. With the heat gone I am going to try to fly twice a week this fall.

On windier days I like to hang my plane high up in the wind and let it drift across the field.

Planes charged but opted out today. 92 degrees is a bit warm. I’ll reconsider in the morning.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

I bought a mill rotary table (Vevor). Shockingly poorly made but oh well, high accuracy not needed in the hobby world.

Going back to Nall next year? The rainy Friday kept me away last year.

    What beer ya drinking tonight?

Late in the day and late in the summer. I had to pool all to myself for a few hours. Couple of Tropicalias were consumed.

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

I actually switched to high rates landings in the last 2 years or 2. A better pilot recommended it and it stuck with me.l

Going to try to bolt/weld a wench to my mini excavator so as to back it down a steep hill. I started with drilling out a piece of steel plate to bolt to a new 12,000 wench. I might weld the plate to the excavator push blade and cut it off later.

Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Took my lazy butt to my hobby room and forced myself to get back to this build. In my defense I am spending a lot of weekend time at my shop recently. Aileron control arms are raised/reset and the Hysol is drying. Covering should resume this week.

I grew up on a farm in rural Texas, 4x4 was a way of life. Our goal in high school was to have a truck so muddy that there was no clue as to what color it was. Nice to have if you need it.

Let me know, I have 60/61 sized engines by the dozens. Jett, YS, Novarossi, OS, OPS. Short stroke, long stroke, ducted fan. That SF is a pattern type engine and tops out at 12K (?) rpm. Something in the 18K rpm is better suited for that speed demon.

What engine? Look like an OS 61SF.
