PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

Thanks Tony! I'm learning that these small parts also don't have mutch tolerance for any kind of pressure. I've got to be a bit gentle with them. I can see where form tooling could be an issue for smaller parts, as well as regidity and power on these small machines for the larger parts. Thanks...

Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

Prayers for healing for the both of you! A lot of people in our area have been bitten as well. Most are getting through it within a couple of weeks, with a lingering head cold. Looks like the window is going to turn out great.

PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

Last night I got the handles made, from the supplied 1/8" brass round stock. The first one blew up, but I think I got the hang of turning small stock down a bit better over the process. The kit suplied enough to make 4 of these, but only requires 3, so I was in luck! I don't yet have any form...

PM Research Mini Engine Lathe Build

I think this is a good place to post this project. It is going to be a learning experience for me mostly. I don't have much experience in fabrication, so this project should expand my horizons. It's a mini engine lathe kit from PM Research, and they have a lot of other small kits to choose from...

    Yippee! What the postman brought

🤣 I was pondering that!! I wasn't sure if this was a good place to post updates, so I started a new thread here: https://www.giantscalenews.com/threads/pm-research-mini-engine-lathe-build.11543/

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Joe did a magnificent job on his. I don't think I'll come anywhere close to his perfection. I spent about 2 and a half hours last night on one handle and it still needs work.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Yeppers! Working great so far! And after using the DRO for a bit, I'm definitely wanting to put one on my mini lathe.

    Yippee! What the postman brought

Not the post man, but it was unwrapped on the 25th. This is a tiny lathe kit, and will help me develop my machining skills. I'll be following Joe's build videos. Can't wait to get started, but first, more tooling.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

There were some goodies under the tree. I spent some time getting the vice squared up on the mill. Also got a full collet set. So I also got busy on the cub gear again.

Got a wonderful surprise for my birthday yesterday. Wife got me a benchtop mill with DRO! Can't wait to start making some chips with it. She also got me a nice bench to put it on. :banana-dance:

Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

I think these will work a lot better than the O Rings or bungee's, though they will add a little weight.
