The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I wish my interest only remained with N or Z, but alas, G scale is where my mind wanders to :oblong: It's kind of peculiar that google searching for hours doesn't turn up much info, whereas you can google search 'rc airplane' and turn up no less than 2 dozen results for web outlets and forums.

AHHhh flying gas always feels the best after flying nothing but foam for several weeks.

Is there a port for the red/black wire on the rx? Pretty sure that's for flight pack voltage information.. SRXL is Spektrums version of S.Bus.

Xpress builds a 115 AJ Laser - PICTURE HEAVY!

The quality on these airplanes is definitely top tier, it's why I've chosen to fly AJ Aircraft exclusively. The guys are extremely friendly and very helpful as well- I was missing a parts bag out of this kit and they rushed one to me to keep me from being held up. Funny enough, it's on my end of...

Visited the local museum today. Several very large displays with 2 levels and even an outdoor exhibit. In all, there were 4 scales represented (N, HO, O, and G) and 4 separate clubs running the various displays.

Inadvertently rediscovered one of my old hobbies... I dunno what's worse, the fact that I want to get back into it, or the fact that my girlfriend is more enamored by it than me o_Oo_Oo_O

Glued the control horns into the right wing panel last night. My process is pretty straightforward- slice the slots open for the control horns in the surface, test fit the horns and make any adjustments necessary, then put the horns and the square horn base (for lack of a better term) into the...

I always forget just how much fun the FunCub XL really is. It's an excellent backup to any giant scale airplane since it can do some pretty wicked maneuvers.

More work last night. I'm almost to a standstill, aside from the throttle/choke servos. Waiting on the servos to arrive still.... First up, installing the 2 HSB-9381TH servos I had. These went right to the rudder slot to get fuselage setup out of the way as quickly as possible. I used black...

AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Throttle curves in your transmitter will help to smooth out the midrange but can make a very sudden and often ballistic top end power range. Mechanical curves are really the only way to overcome this issue.

Try and set your servo up so that it has a mechanical curve built into the throttle linkage, it really smooths things out and makes the throttle feel way more linear.

You might talk to AJ Aircraft, they typically carry a selection of Hitec servos. We unfortunately won't be there this year :(

Little more work on the Laser tonight. Chad Wilson at TDRC coming through with the goods as always! Cut out the holes in the fuselage for everything, and ran the extensions to the tail. Tucked the excess wire into the servo tray. Epoxied control horns into the rudder. And got the...

That price sound grossly inflated, even for Canada. As much as I hate pushing people away from their local hobby shop, you may find it less expensive at another retailer.

I will have to cut a hole beneath the carb to let fuel drip out into the open. Carburetors will always spit some fuel after choking, regardless of engine brand, or tune. Nothing major last night, just glued control horns to the stabs and cut out the servo pockets. Using my iron set to 600F I...

Only a little bit of work on the 115 this weekend, I fitted blind nuts to the back of the firewall (makes removing the engine SO easy when building the airplane (since the engine goes on and comes off 10 times during the whole assembly)) and bolted the cuffs and wheel pants on. I like to use...
