Am I unlucky or to picky?

I do not think you are being particularly picky. I like many who fly like my planes as perfect as I can make them. Although if you are expecting everything to go together perfectly without occasionally having to re engineer them, I think you may be disappointed. I personally don't mind fixing or...

How much longer is Horizon contracted as the JR Service Center?

That is very good to know. I was also concerned that the separation between JR and Horizon might have a negative effect on their service. The current level of service is extremely good. I personally have attributed part of that to Horizon. They are top notch as well.

How long before they notice ?

I have thought about going in and deleting all of my old posts. Even with only 500 posts though it would take some time. I would bet that as soon as someone saw that going on, the user would be banned real quick.

This really gives the hobby a bad name and some clubs are alot like this

The funny thing is that Rob was the safety officer at his old club. Although in my experience both clubs have pilots that crash planes into the pits.

    Moving to High Voltage

Given enough speed and torque, I wonder if you could "flap" the ailerons for forward motion in the event of a dead stick?

    Moving to High Voltage

Based on my research on the subject, the 7955 is has the exact same electronics as the 7954. The only difference is the titanium gears on the 7955. You can see evidence of this with identical speed and torque ratings at same voltages. It was released before the other HV servos in the 79xx line...

How did you get or come up with your user name?

I found it pretty interesting that most of the members here are using the same user name they had at the "old and dying" site. I did the same. I spend a significant amount of time volunteering my time for the National Ski Patrol. In winter I am up on the mountain quite a bit taking care of...

New products @ Tail Dragger Rc

Ok so for charging at fast rates you would need to disconnect the deans connector and hook up balance leads through your new harness to keep things clean. You can still burry the batteries deep in plane, you would just need access to the deans to the rx for charging?

    Flight Pack Opinions

I very much like the idea of the reserve. I am also very much aware that battery consumption is a very variable. On my gassers I have gone to a twin battery setups. I always pretend the second battery is not there when figuring things. Therefore, I usually only fly to about 1/4th of the capacity...

Thanks Rick, that is about what I get with my 104" Extra then. I usually charge after about 5 flights.

Rick, how many amps can you push down just the balance cables? I guess I am assuming you can charge without disconnecting the main battery leads?

    Field equipment: Refueling bottle setup

Jetpainter, can you explain how you do the swirls in the aluminum. I am assuming this can be done with a drill press and the proper bit???

Rick, how many flights would be conservative for twin 5000mah A123 in a typical 40% IMAC plane? I guess this would include ignition as well via an IBEC, otherwise you would have to charge at least twice or have a twin charger. I usually parallel charge my rx batteries in the field unless I'm...

    3D EF 104 electrical

Here is my plane. My batteries fit on either along the side of the fuel tank with a velcro strap. The receiver tray is light plywood lightened with holes and covered with ultra coat. It houses the connector for my Aileron wiring from Taildragger. 18387=12484-D2B_5601.jpg

Rob, As you know I have two gas planes as you helped me get the first one in the air last year. Both of mine have lipo's in them. In the smaller one (VVRC 40 powered 78" Extra) I have twin 2600mah Thunderpower. In my EF 104" with the DA I am using the 3900mah Thunderpower. Both are the G8 Pro...

    Motorcycles?

My 28 year old son wanted to get into motorcycles last year. I advised him to pick up a two year old KLR 650 and beat the snot out it for a couple years. Then if he is still riding it to then consider buying a nicer /newer bike. The KLR's are relatively cheap and hold their value quite well if...

    Extra 330 71 Graphics

49dimes is correct. First thing I noticed was all the blank space on the nose. Definitely out of balance aesthetically.

This is absolutely brilliant and historically funny. Now I just need to find someone to do the graphics for this. I will put them on my small Edge.
