Don't believe I will add spars. Ribs two and three will be 1/8" plywood to distribute the landing block load. The basswood landing gear blocks were salvaged from the first 30% model shown below. The gear strut are angled 3 degrees outward and it took some to make them so hopefully I can save...

Wing construction Step 1 - print the templates from the Compufoil program and tape together. The programs defaults to an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper, if it can be changed I don't know how. No big deal just takes a little time. The root template is a NASA 2315 airfoil that was stretched using...

I started laying up the cowl mold. Put the tooling coat on, yesterday morning followed with a layer of 1 1/2 ounce cloth. When I got back home in the afternoon, the top of the cowl puckered in. I didn't add any reinforcement to the cowl so it is only .025" thick over most of the surface...

I would image with a Plane like the Spacewaker, if you start at one end by the time your get to the other end of the wing that the Titebond will be dry enough to remove the pins.

Would like me to measure my Super Cub? It will spread if need. And it has a very nice scale filler strip on the bottom.

It's done. The inner surface was polished with sandpaper and WD40 to 800 grit to remove the tool marks, it is about 3/4" longer than the stock venturi. Working on the cowl mold as well, it it ready to begin molding, all waxed and PVA applied. Once the new cowl is complete I can mount the...

That is the smallest boring bar that I have and it just barely fits in the T(.360") letter drill hole. The compound on the small lathes sucks as well. It is a 7 degree taper 1 1/2" long, the radius is 1/4" diameter. I have no bench mark to compare the performance just hoping for the best...

Pickup the 48"x 48"x 6" piece of 1 pound virgin expanded bead polystyrene today that hopefully will become the wing cores. The cost was $53.00. The factory is about an hour from my home. The last time I bought foam from there was in 2003 when building a Hurley Extra 300.

Hey Randy, welcome to GSN! A build would be great. Wonder if the 38 cc will be up to the task? I image the recommended engines on the SIG site are glow?

Quick update on the carburetor modification. The clone carb I bought had a 17MM choke diameter, I found a 17 mm velocity stack Ebay for $8 so I bought it. The original carb has a 9 mm diameter velocity stack. Looking at the 17 mm velocity stack on the new carb with the choke open just looks...

Sanding away on the cowl and finishing up the stabilator. Turned 3/4" dowel down to fit inside the cf tube on both ends, these were glued in with thin CA. The stabilator tips are fitted with 1/4" lite ply plates, an additional piece of 1/4" lite ply was glued over the socket area, a 4-40 bolt...
