Giant Scale RC Why do this? Seriously??

Damn I'm hungry
And a BIG HELL YA! to BIG RC PLANES!. "If there was not big rc planes...Then big rc planes would be not!" Dude Duh Biggs.

1) Fly better than most. Little planes can fly well but I find that the 30% on up in general do the best when wing loading is taken into consideration. Seen some real Tanks fall like a rock once power was removed.

2) Generally easier to build/ assemble. Can get to things more easily if you got fat nubs for fingers like me.

3) The available engines are just incredible! China motors included.

4) The available hardware and bling is cool and robust. Peace of mind.

5)The electronics support GS way better.

6) Presentation. What is there not to love about a big beautiful flying machine that makes you say :too-cool:.

7) Self preservation.... Joy and humility, Using your noodle upstairs, Complete satisfaction.

For me, sanity! Waiting for doctors to put my spine back together I needed something to ocupie my time and get my mind off of the pain. That's how it started for me. Ya, I could have built smaller planes, and did but the excitement wasn't the same for them anymore, even helicopters didn't do it anymore for me. So... I wanted to go big!! And did!

And we all know, bigger flys better!!!!

While I only have two 30% planes and neither have I gotten into the air yet I have a good love for the smaller ones. Always a joy going into my basement shop and gluing sticks together. Its just a good way to forget about everything else. I was once asked by a fellow flyer why I would rather waste my time building a planes for months over getting an arf that can be in the air in no time. Simple answer was there is no better satisfaction than seeing something you took from a box a wood to something that flys, especially when you take something like the plane in my avatar that was just a though in my head. Seeing your own design fly and fly well is an awesome feeling. Like others have said it is all just a good stress release from the daily grind.

I like to piddle and tinker and this keeps me occupied. The bonus is all the new people and friends you meet along the way! I did stop and do the math though, I'd have a lot more money if I never would have decided to stop in the hobby shop on a whim one day...that's for sure but you can't take it with you.
